Jesus and Isaac: Two Beloved Sons, One Sacred Mountain

The fact that the crown of thorns is prefigured in this prophecy is even more amazing when you realize that the crown of thorns is a reference to the Laurel crown of the Romans too. Just think about that for a second, and then remember to breathe.

God stopped the sacrifice of Isaac but went through the sacrifice of His own Son.

And God made it easy. He'd already promised Abraham that Isaac would establish the covenant. I guess Abraham would've been considering Isaac's resurrection as they went on up.

Dr Pitre, can you tell me about this slight asymmetry I have always wondered about: in the Genesis account, God promises to provide the LAMB, and yet, in the narrative we see a RAM being provided. Does this mean that the Genesis account is implicitly waiting still for that lamb, which we finally then see in Jesus?

Question The angel of the lord is speaking to Abraham, but then the angel is speaking as if he is god. According to the verse, it's the angel who blesses Abraham, not God. What gives? If the angel is god, then why not say God instead of saying angel?

An angel is a messenger of God, the blessing came from God but the angel administered it by the command of God. I believe God works in many ways, God uses anything to give us the blessing.

I agree with you though, but i'm just trying to see a better explanation because I tend to get into discussions with atheists. And they get technical. So that's why I'm asking. I've heard that whenever it says the Angel of the Lord, it's actually pre incarnate Jesus Christ, the second person of the trinity.
