Thank you for answering my puzzlement over what God's will is for my life! I look for big tasks outside our home, instead of dealing with what's under my nose. Our four children are all grown up, left home and not that Catholic - very much influenced by the spirit of the world in many ways while identifying as Catholic. Thank you for highlighting the Dignity of everyday life. I think in Russian Orthodoxy they refer to Saints as passion bearers who are people who basically just did the life that God gave them and lived it well according to what God asked of them. Such a beautiful image.

Thank you so much for this...I would like to suggest, for the Lenten Retreat, that perhaps you could do it through the eyes of Our Lady of Sorrows.. The book I could suggest is White Lily of Heaven: Readings and prayers in honour of the seven sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The devotions are broken up over 49 days, but I'm sure there are some that you could combine to shorten it to 40 days. God bless you and your beautiful family!

So I think something really important that I recognized is that most people do not know quotes from the Saints...lessons from Christ that he gave to them Personally, perhaps one quote is read, either on a daily basis or a weekly basis during lent to meditate upon . I’ve been keeping a book as I read a quote from Saint Theresa Avila or Saint Faustina that is so profoundly changing my spiritual growth. . An example Saint Faustina said that the will of God is in our conscience. That’s just huge influence on our souls. Incredible information !!!! We need to know these things they are gifts. Thank you

I listen to a zoom meeting with a group and we had some reflection, which was about The Interior Castle then I took it easy by taking care of myself because I’m always keeping busy or that I have to pray this or that prayer and letting the Lord speak to me, because I noticed I was putting stress over all that. Ken you asked for Lenten suggestions... This is the Year of Prayer and St. Teresa of Jesus is the Doctor of Prayer and she wrote her masterpiece, "The Way of Perfection" to teach her sisters how to pray. It contains an excellent exegesis on the Our Father.

Interestingly, I am currently reading the Way of Perfection, and I have so much to learn from her, I second the recommendation. In it, St Theresa of Avila writes "prayer and comfortable living are incompatible", which lines up perfectly in what you have said today. I picked up the Way of Perfection because in the last few months, I have realized I truly need to understand what is meant by mental prayer, and how to do go about it. Learning from the Doctor of the church, the Lord had to lead me to much bigger steps in humility and detachment before my prayer could advance. Thank you for your work.@@Catholicspeaker

I am reading the summa of the summa theologiae by St. Thomas Aquinas. It is a heavy read but it is partitioned by subject in a way that one could study a small chapter over Lent. I thought the explanation of the Trinity was really amazing: Basically, it goes that one who has knowledge (the father) and the knowledge of something (mother) together create the understanding of an object as the offspring or child. Thus because God (the Father) is all knowing and has perfect knowledge of Himself, the knowledge of Himself is so full and complete (and infinite) that it is itself a whole other person, the Son. And the love of God entails love of self and that love between both persons (Father and Son) is so full and infinite that it generates the Holy Spirit.

I wonder if your lenten meditations and preparation for Easter could include the meaning and sense of suffering in life of each: clergy, unmarried (single), married, divorced, widowed. Just an idea, no pressure. I struggle with meaning of life of the single person, but I think suffering would touch me in any state. So sufferings & joys. How to live sufferings, how to find joys. Fr Grzegorz Blizniak is a Polish priest who visited Japan in Oct 2023. He spoke to Sisters on the pilgrimage site & seemingly these Akita apparitions from 1973 are now fulfilling. Sr Agnes had a more recent apparition, but I couldnt find any info on it published, except from this priest in his talks on YT.

As per Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC, in his book, 33 Days to Morning Glory, if we give Mary the right to dispose of the graces of our good works, then this means we cannot unconditionally apply such graces to whomever we choose. We should give Mary everything, including our interior and spiritual goods, which are our merits and our virtues, and our good works, past, present, and future. Why? 1. Mary makes the good things we give her more perfect. 2. Mary is never outdone in generosity. If we've given her everything, is there any doubt that she'll be generous in giving whatever good we ask for to those who are dear to us? Pages 39-42

This aspect of God's taking into consideration the suffering of good people to avoid punishment for all reminds me of the incident in the Bible where Abraham kept asking God if he would destroy Sodom & Gomorrah if there were only a small number of people there worth saving. So Abraham was trying to save his nephew Lott and Lott's family from being destroyed, and kept at God, lessening the number of good people that God would accept to prevent destruction of S&G. God still destroyed S&G, but removed Lott and his family from the city. So, the small number of good people in S&G weren't sufficient to save S&G from their many sins. I guess there's a tipping point, and, at some amount of wickedness, that point gets to be too great to save all the unrepentant from their sins. At S&G, God removed ones who didn't deserve it. But w Akita, that seems not to be the case. We are all sinners, of course. None of us are innocent. What bothers me is that animals have to suffer and be destroyed in such instances simply because they are in the vicinity, say, in the cities of S&G.
