Is it possible to over-exfoliate with Azelaic Acid? I see conflicting information, some say it actually can help with skin barrier, but some parts of my face are dry with some dry skin on top of it. Same question about Urea - they say it makes the skin barrier thicker, but if I use it daily or twice a day, I start to get tiny pimples that are barely inflamed. Not sure if it's a good sign or bad. I think maybe these are pimples that would come out anyway, but not as tiny as with Urea?

This was literally the most helpful video I’ve ever watched on KZbin! I’ve realised these past two years that my skin has been so bad because I’ve over exfoliated it! My normal skin usually has a bit of texture and the odd pimple every now and again. But my issues all started when I had a massive pimple coming up so started to use a facial scrub every day (I know I know, what the hell was I thinking?) I wasn’t even that gentle with it either. This caused a massive breakout on my forehead, the worst I’ve ever had. It literally destroyed my self confidence so much that I spent so much money on acne face washes and moisturisers trying to fix it but realistically just making it worse. I’ve done everything you’ve suggested this past week (AM: wash face with water, Cetaphil rich moisturiser, the inkey list physical sunscreen. PM: Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, Cetaphil rich moisturiser) and my skin is the smoothest it has been in years. It’s amazing that my results have been this quick! Obviously my skin is still nowhere near perfect and it’ll take some time for redness to go down but I’m now well on my way to getting my skin back to the way it was! Thank you for your help!

Hi! My skin eventually went back to normal, so rest assured, your’s will too with time! I recommend you stop any actives (like retinoid, tretinoin, salicylic acid, etc.) if using any. I recommend completely simplifying your routine. A gentle cleanser and hydrating moisturizer (plus time) should heal your skin barrier. This is how I remember healing the tightness/waxiness/shininess :)

@@Dan24. From my past comment, I can gather by doing nothing, I prolonged the process of healing my skin. I used no products from mid Feb to early April (almost a month and a half) and had no healing results. Using a gentle cleaner and hydrating moisturizer might speed the process. I don’t have an exactly timeline of when my skin finally healed, sorry, but it shouldn’t be months. Maybe a few weeks? Also, be physically gentle with your skin. I don’t recommended picking at it or scrubbing harshly with your fingers.
