I just trimmed back my catmint yesterday! I'm down in SE Michigan and I think I have Walker's Low and it was really due for a haircut, lol. It's floppy because of the rain so maybe, next year, I'll divide it. Nepeta makes a great companion plant for roses, I have mine with my roses and some pink gaura. Looks pretty good, if I say so myself, lol. If I ever get up your way, I will definitely stop in and do some shopping :)

This year we seem to either get no rain OR torrential downpours... the good news is that your catmint will put on another show later in the season. I like it with roses -- gaura isn't always hardy up here, so I don't plant much... but now you've got me picturing it in the garden again :)

I have Walker's Low and it does splendidly with some shearing after the blooms are spent. One of my cats loves it more than Catnip! Love your videos and that you share so much info to make us gardners successful.

I have Cranesbill, either ''New Hampshire Purple' or bloody geranium (according plant identifier lol) planted near blue salvia and it looks good. I'm thinking I would add candy cat in pink to the mix. Tks for the video 🙂

For some reason I have never had luck with Cat's Pajamas. They have just shriveled up on me. I love Walker's Low. I usually plant with daylilies and phlox. Thanks for the new recommends. I will have to give them a try.

Ive noticed that my candy cat catmint gets alot of rust on it as opposed to the other catmint varieties I have.

Love the Candy Cat! I’ve been battling spider mites with soapy water rinse but still looks bad. If I cut it completely back, do you think it would put back out?
@UpNorthGardenMI Жыл бұрын
I would definitely shear it back.

can it planted in a mound form in wet areas? does it prefer compost ? Thanks

Planting it on a mound could help with drainage. I think a lot depends on your specific conditions. Adding organic matter will likely help… this plant requires average fertilizing, so basic amending and fertilizing should get the job done.
