I'm old and don't have much patience for tech stuff, been on pro tools since 08, this is all the stuff I never bothered to learn, because I am too busy writing and recording, thanks!! enjoy finally learning some new things!

Great description of what goes on here thanks !! So many dialogues we see (well, I see) and its all "Greek" but you covered it well. The distinction is clear enough.... I guess if the aim is "seamless" and the clips are contrasting - then equal power? If the clips are similar (like say guitar clips from lots of takes) then equal gain, right? Guess you just preview various settings by "doing it", coming out and listening... then go back to the dialogue and edit... yes? Up there as usual - thanks.....
