If you happen to know what maybe went wrong with my power supply board feel free to comment, thank you all for liking and commenting
@averagegigachad7954 ай бұрын
Every power supply unit that failed on me was due to bad diodes or mosfets, from phone chargers to PCs, so that's a good starting point. Sometimes when one component goes bad it takes out other components with it. Even if you can't repair the dead board it's a good idea to keep it as a donor board, to take components out of it in case the new board fails in the future Also be sure to discharge the big capacitor, it can keep its charge for a while and shock you really bad

@@catplantASMR I taught myself (with the help of KZbin) a few years ago. It's not very hard as long as you have a good quality iron. I was so intimidated by soldering before but now I really enjoy it. Crimson Butterfly is my favorite FF game!!

@@catplantASMR a good tip is to treat the solder like a pen, whose ink flows on the connection towards the heat of the iron Typically 63/37 resin flux solder works best, and getting an adjustable temp. iron is will work better than a plug n' heat. This makes me want more electronics repair ASMR. Seeing you dissect and return the system to working order works really well. As for the issue with your old power supply board: capacitors from the early 2000s are notoriously low quality particularly the tower ones like the board uses. Easy to check if they’re going bad: look if they are bulging. Check the new board as well. They might be working, but if they bulge they can burst and the contents are very corrosive. They can destroy the inside of your PS2 permanently if that happens. The PS2 was a tough little console, but many are over 20 years old now and components are starting to fail. Nothing that can’t be fixed however.
