sourcing at all levels, I am an everything seller on ebay, but specialize in records. worked at a record store for 10 years, so made a lot of connections, lots of collection buys, pickers that i buy from regularly, and people that refer folks to me that want to sell their record collection or even a box or so. When I feel like it or its winter time if needed I will source online looking for deals or lots on ebay, margins are less but still tend to do 30-50% depending on the deal online. garage and estate sale season is on, and its fun because of the treasure hunt.

That’s my couple boxes of games at the beginning with the jaws 5 screw! So glad I was able to do business with you lads and it’s awesome seeing the crew react the same way to the cartridge as my buddies and I when we found it! I hope you make big fat bux 💰 and if the yard sales are good to me I’ll hopefully be in contact again!

Heres what i notice out in the wild. People dont look at each other. Especially in places like Goodwill and Garage Sales the resellers will just put their head down and avoid everyone while trying to sneak around and get all the best stuff. Dont do that. I open my body language in these places, keep my head up, make eye contact with people, and make meaningful conversation about stuff other than what they are selling. Reselling doesn't have to be a shady business, you just gotta be open about it.

the insight you folks give is priceless. couldn't agree more about the not seeing the competition in a negative light. i mainly source vtg t-shirts and the amount of resellers i meet at the thrifts is ALOT. i am constantly introducing myself, ive been able to score on lots they sell for great deals. not to mention the amount of places to source they've also told me about. kill em with kindness!

Im level 1 and started about a month ago, goodwills, thrift stores and online as well. Have all the PlayStation systems in working conditions and n64 as well as games, keeping those for myself and my son to enjoy but reselling everything else. I work night shifts and am able to be early when stores open for good deals, having lots of fun finding childhood memories and making money doing it.

Quickest way to tell on the DS games is look at the top for the “rectangle” in the center with the lines. Fake ones have no lines or rectangle on the top at all, it’s just a plain smooth top across. Real DS games have that small indent in the center. Quickest way to tell and it’s correct 99% of the time unless someone actually swapped out the outer shell. I’ve never seen it be incorrect.

what kills me is the game stores that wont sell to a amazon seller and call us resellers even tho the game stores are resellers or they limit how many copies of a game you can buy doesnt seem to make any sense to me since the bottom line is making money to stay open

I wanna share my biggest frustration… I’m on rural Texas and I truly envy the stuff you guys find cause seems people in Midwest and your area actually took care of stuff cause around here the small amount stuff I find it’s close to garbage, thankfully I do have a connection that operates at level 5 so I get good stuff that way but wish I could it at garage sales price. Done venting

I'm at level 1 but I do have a couple of connections that gets me on the edge of level 2. I have a full time job that makes it very hard to get to garage sales and other types of sales also I live in the DFW area of Tx so the competition is very high. This is where edge of level 2 comes in to play. The connections that I do have normally are wanting to sell me everything and not piece it out and I end up with a bunch of games that are almost worthless. How or what is the best way to sale them? I can't bring myself to just throw them in the trash.

Question/Food for thought: ten, twenty years ago, if someone had a collection, or just a box or two of games and wanted to sell it in one go, they'd wither have a local game store, or possibly a Craigslist. Beyond that, they'd donate a box of old games, but probably not a giant collection. Today, with youtube, there is now local game stores, still Craigslist type listings or Facebook etc, and selling to a youtube personality. Currently, I know of at least 4 youtube channels I could potentially sell to if I wanted to. I assume there's way more than that, seeing as how big youtube is, and how mamy channels in a specific category there are. The question is, do youtubers take business away from local stores in any meaningful way? Every collection sold to a channel is a potential sale to a local gamestore, if the person had one near them. Obviously, the amount of extra work selling to a youtube channel may limit this type of sale mainly to people who have no other choice. Having to ship a collection, vs driving it to a store 20 minutes away, seem like a hassle to me. Then again, people may not want to go to a store in person since a lot of people a scared to interact in person it seems to me, so the online route with the extra work may be better. When your typing to someone versus face to face negotiations, the typing is less intense and confrontational to people. What do you think? Sales being driven away from local shops, or there's enough to go around for everyone?

Do you not think paying your fair share is the morally right thing to do? Plenty of people need assistance, as well as plenty of our systems that we take advantage of everyday need the money that comes from taxes, IRS isn't the greatest, but when we are in positions of having a hobby income, we are also in positions of paying our fair share to make sure these things stay in place.
