yes, Broadway 1982! Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer actually went through a few iterations before becoming the version most popularly known today- in London the entire melody of the song was different

Thank you! One of my friends had the foresight to download a lot of those clips from youtube beforehand, so I'm lucky she had them! Thankfully, that youtube channel does go down at times and has stated the videos will be back up soon, so those vids aren't gone forever!

for those wondering "why are "Jellicle Songs" and "Memory" so short, those two elements were taken from the 1983 Tony Awards broadcast & those two songs were videotaped in advance of the awards show.

One little tidbit: on the chorus repeat of "Memory" after Moments of Happiness, the cast sings the backphrasing/syncopated phrasing that Betty did on "enter in" - I noticed this because in the original London cast, you don't hear them doing that. I wonder where that change happened. Had to be somewhere in the early part of the Bway run. It's written as just eighth notes just like the melody in the orchestration.

I for several years also thought Betty rivaled anyone else until I saw Laurie Beechman do this live at the Winter Garden upon her 2nd return to the role in 1992. She was astounding. I encourage you to watch her documentary "listen to my heart" here on KZbin. It has a cleaned up audio and video of her doing it on the Phil Donahue show. If u have a big TV with nice audio, I swear her voice just shimmers all the way through the documentary. I just thought to bring some light to your day.

Good luck, but half of these clips are NOT the original cast as cameras were never allowed into the theater and there were no cell phones back then. There was a great respect for live theater unlike today where performers are subjected to flash from cell phones while performing. All we have are photos , yet nice to see a few original cast members from the original cast.

She was dying. That's why she fell down in Memory (Reprise), she wasn't going to see the morning. The memory that was fading was herself.

Ultimately thats something Old Deuteronomy would know. But at a guess I would say it was because she was a person who'd taken the wrong path in life, made bad choices, regretted them deeply but then was trying to show remorse and was desperate to be accepted back into the tribe so badly that eventually on her death bed Old D takes pity on her and decides that after basically after making a final plea for her life in Memory he chooses her.

it's typically thought that Macavity is the eldest son of Old Deut, Munkustrap is the middle child, and Rum Tum is the youngest. Some think Grizabella was the mother of the three, but abandoned them (and Old Deut) to pursue a life of glamour, leading to her being rejected and outcasted by the tribe. Idk abt the Rumpus Cat tho.

I compiled all of the Original cast that I saw live at The Winter Garden Theater from KZbin and joined them together flawlessly. The Full Cat's Play is 2 hours 1 minute Long. My copy was recorded using my home built High Fidelity speaker system that when at full volume can be heard a full mile away from my home. Being an audiophile who knows what music should sound like, My copy is the best copy I've ever heard. I'm too afraid to upload it due to a previous case of copyright infringement record. As for you project it's sound track sounds flat, not full and robust like mine. YOU SHOULD SCRAP YOUR PROJECT AND START FROM SCRATCH.
