The reason why Danny's character acted like this is because he just got carried away by all of this. It happens to everyone and it shows. It was probably all Darla's the fault from the start, because (1. she was all smiley-faced when she sang about some of the animals dying off (including the unicorns), which is tragic, and should not be done with that face the whole time and it's NOT even how acting works and (2. she dealt with Danny's first experience jitters, very poorly and could've been settled in a much calmer conversation, that THIS. That doesn't make Danny a cringey character. It explains how difficult, it must be for him to achieve his dream in a certain way. In other words, she just cannot take everything too personally. Of course, you might've heard of what happened during the making of My Week With Marilyn. I know that, because Weinstein of all people acted inappropirately, during a test screening of said film, because he felt that Michelle Williams didn't have enough screen time, saying that he "wanted more Marilyn"! Sound similar? Think about it. It's not 'til the climax of the movie that Danny redeems himself.

When you think about it darla isn't really that bad of a person, yea she's spoiled and pushy but if Danny wouldn't have pulled that stunt she wouldn't have gotten angry towards him and wouldn't have had to call max she wasn't bothering him she was just trying to perform , Danny was causing the problems by trying to upstage her, he technically was trying to sabotage darlas performance by trying to be the center of attention and causing accidents

If she hadn't attempted to drown the animals in her production (I think she did; I never actually saw the movie) I would say she's just a spoiled, misunderstood child corrupted by fame.
