Years ago when we got our first large real Christmas tree our indoor cat was missing for three days. Had the Christmas party and when someone reached into the tree to look at an ornament sure enough our cat was in the stupid tree & tried to bite them! She was smack dab in the middle of the tree and bit everyone who tried to get her out lol, so the vet said just leave her there & she will come out eventually. Turned out she did but only at night when everyone was asleep and back up the tree she went before daybreak! Never had a peculiar cat like that since but it was really funny! 😊

When I was a kid the tinsel was made of lead. It would have been hazardous for any cat to eat it. This was 60 years ago. Lead tinsel did look lovely on the tree. Better than the plastic stuff we have now. We probably should have washed our hands thoroughly after decorating with it but we didn't know the hazards of lead.

When I was a young girl, we came home from church only to find the Xmas tree on the floor. We had 3 cats and each one was very different. My cat is now 8 years old and has learned to leave the tree alone. But when she was younger, she would take birds and butterflies off the lower branches. She never climbed the tree. I still do not place Xmas ball ornaments on the tree. Not with a cat. When they break, the glass breaks in tiny s on splinters and could get caught in a cat's paw or worse, swallow a splinter of glass while licking themselves. I use birds, butterflies and fir branches with artificial snow on the tips and all white lights. Looks nice and my cat could care less about the tree, the presents or the ornaments. The worst thing my cat does is throw up an occasional hairball. She has never sprayed, never climbs curtains, doesn't jump up on countertops or tables. She's a happy and content cat, tail always carried straight up, rarely speaks unless she is having an issue with the vacuum cleaner or wants attention. She will not eat any human food and that includes tuna fish, loves to play and sits and watch the world go by. She did hiss at a lion on a nature program once and doesn't like strangers. She's my cat and only my cat. As for being startled by a cucumber like other cats in other videos, not her. She sniffs it and walks away.

Aversion therapy chasing the cats around with a christmas tree. Hope it works. I tried to get my cat to stop howling at the bedroom door because he would go after my daughter's birds when no one was around. He didnt like that. So I got a spray bottle with water and sprayed him every time he did it. He finally got tired of it and when i sprayed him , instead of stopping , he ran towards me with a look on his face that said "Would you please stop that!" But he didnt howl as much.

I had three Siamese cats, at different times, when I was growing up. Not one of them ever attacked our Christmas tree. Nor anything under the tree. Not once. My toddler brother pulled our tree down, when he was pulling on a candy cane. Mama solved that 'problem' by putting all the candy canes in a jar on top of the fridge, and we had to ask Mama or Daddy to get us one. Next 'tree attack' came when my parakeet decided to hide in the tree. I pulled it down, trying to retrieve the bird. Never did any of our cats attack the Christmas tree. A friend of mine has cats, and a Christmas tree. She never has any trouble with any of the cats attacking the tree. She also hangs the tree from the middle of her living room ceiling. It looks pretty up there. And the cats can't reach it. Anyway . . . About this video: I don't understand why people are always surprised to see cats in Christmas trees. Or knocking them down. Or stealing decorations. Facts: Cats climb trees. Christmas trees are trees. Cats are gonna climb them. Cats knock things over. Christmas trees can be knocked over. Cats are gonna knock over the tree. Cats like to play with shiny, dangly things. Christmas tree lights and ornaments are shiny, dangly things. Cats are gonna play with lights and ornaments. When my son was small and in a walker he liked to ram the Christmas tree and try to knock stuff off of it so we put it on a table in the corner and tied the top of the tree to a hook in the ceiling.
