I haven't had to experience this on my cat yet, but if ever I'll make sure she'll still be comfortable even with a cone until the veterinarian tells when I can remove the cone

I'm not sure but as far as I know it serves for medical purposes - to prevent them from scratching their head if something in that area needs to heal.

I saw a stray cat staying infront of our apartment and it keeps scratching his big wound on his cheeks, i think thats why head cones are good for cats.
