I adopted my cat from a shelter when she was 8. She had been there for months and I couldn’t understand why no one had wanted her. She was the most beautiful animal I had ever seen with taupe and midnight brown stripes on her back, a beige belly with sharply contrasted dark spots and piercing aqua green eyes. I held her once and I knew we had a special bond, despite never having been a cat person per se (I didn’t think cats liked me). She was scared and underweight when I brought her home. I didn’t force affection or even attention from her. I just spoke to her softly, fed her consistently at the same times everyday, and waited patiently with no expectations. She gradually started approaching me and when my husband was in the room (or anyone else), she would nuzzle herself under my arm and peek out. I was her safe space and that was just fine with me. As weeks went by, she would spend less and less time under the bed. She began nuzzling her head on my face, “talking” to me (her meow legit sounds like “hello” ☺️), running to greet me at the back door when I would get home, and sleeping in her safe space under my arm at night. She is now 13 and my family calls her my shadow because she is always by my side. Luna is healthy, happy, and sleeps on my pillow with her face touching mine every night. She hasn’t needed to hide under my arm for a long time but she knows I will always be her safe place. It’s truly a love like no other and I hope everyone gets to be a cats “person” at least once in their lives. ❤

Austyn Thomas Soooo true! The cat clearly gave a few warnings like “ that enough, I’m getting pissed” warnings. The kid did not listen and it’s not even the kids fault. If you buy or adopt a cat, then you as a parent have to do research about cat behavior. Then you know how the cat shows it’s anger, happiness or such. Teach the kids there by and the kid will know two. I was teached by my parents how to se the cats moods. I know when to back off.

The parent should have stepped in and discouraged the kid from SLAPPING an animal, but she didn't - but then she got mad at the animal (who really doesn't know it's a "child" - to them it is a thing SEVERAL TIMES ITS SIZE, attacking it!) for fighting back even though the animal gave clear and lengthy warning first and only did it after a SECOND attack. The mother is basically raising her animal to be traumatized and her kid to think that it's okay to physically abuse animals. Second - that kid is far FAR older than 3 or 4. Anyone under 4 I could kind of see "they don't know any better" but she seems old enough to understand that HItting a Cat Will Hurt It. If she doesn't - or doesn't care - then I would wager that's because her mom is setting such a "great" example for her...

Well the girl seems young I wouldn’t blame her it’s her parents jobs to tell her to stop and explain to her that she has to be gentle to animals I remember when I was a younger than that girl I was pulling on my cats tail and my dad took my hand away and told me that I had to be gentle otherwise the buddy (his actual name was rutabaga so I called him buddy) would hit me and he wouldn’t blame him and I pulled his tail and he hissed and I pulled it again and he smacked me I never was that rough with an animal again if the mother yells at the cat the girl is going to grow up thinking a few things 1. JM_T- 1000 I think you should read my comment more closely it essentially said the mother is at fault for being a horrible parent and pet owner by blaming the cat and not teaching the girl what she’s doing is wrong kids don’t know any better in most cases and if the parent doesn’t take the time to show them when they do something wrong and instead blame anyone or anything other than their precious angel then the girl is going to grow up thinking she had a mean cat and it’s ok to treat animals like that which of course it isn’t I think blaming the cat is nasty and the girl needed to get hit to help her learn but that where the mother then has to step in and say he didn’t hit you because he’s mean he hit you because you were being to rough with him by yelling at the cat the mother is enforcing the girls belief that she did nothing wrong and her cat is mean obviously the girl needed the smack but she also needed her mother to explain why she needed the smack but obviously the mother never has and never will explain that so the girl grows up thinking she’s right in her actions she’s young right now and I blame the parent way more than the girl I’m not on her side I am one hundred percent not blaming the cat I think you might have read my comment to quickly if you look at the story about my old cat you should see how I believe that mother should have handled it kids are inexperienced they need to have someone explain why something happened the way it did in that kind of situation

I never understood how special cats were. Always been a dog guy, until recently someone left a kitten in a kennel in front of my house. Didn't realize he was in there until a day or two later. I waited outside with him for about an hour, and he wouldn't leave the kennel. My dog has no tolerance for others, none of my neighbors wanted him, so I said what the hell. I took him. Until my guy here, I didn't know cats were so affectionate. Cats are really something else 😊

If you watch closely, the tiny girl barely touches the cat - cat is not damaged, hurt or in any way "abused", it is simply annoyed. It let the little girl know, with sounds and behavior, but the little girl is a little girl - small children have little concept of empathy, or the warning signs of an annoyed cat. And, the mom started to tell the girl to stop: "Georgie!" However, as much as the kid may have "deserved" retaliation, as much as you yahoos wanted it, the mom couldn't watch her little girl get her eyes clawed out (cat was clawing at her face), so the mom instantly intervened on her behalf, as a normal mother. All you yahoos booing the mom are idiots. The whole incident took 8 seconds. We have NO idea what the previous 10 minutes of the video were. I have a feeling the mom was waiting for a hissing reaction and maybe a quick claw to her arm, so the little girl learned something, but the cat's reaction was a bit more than she thought.
