They probably had to. There is only so much a child can deliver. It's like when a movie/show has a character discover a corpse, or another climactic moment that earns a cry of anguish, and have the audio get all muted and drowned out by the soundtrack, the second the actor decide to REALLY try and scream in pain. Voice cracks, fallesto registers, squeeks etc. We usually get an "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" but then the audio gets muted when it truly morphs into an *"AHHHHHHH!!!"*

She really reminds me of a king in a book I just recently read, he first became king by being this charming young boy to the king and queen, who eventually name him heir to the throne, and die the day after. then, he gets not only his kingdom but FOUR OTHER KINGDOMS to believe that he is this amazing king that loves children and animals, but in reality he is a sadistic man with a sick sense of humor. but no one ever realized it because he had the power to make people believe every word that came out of his mouth.

Could've entered that fantasy sequence without that many hearts but they went that wonderful extra mile! I'm gonna interpret it as both love and a fear for life. Hearts are used as a representation of love, but also they are literally a vessel for life, and if stopped somehow an organism dies fast.

For some reason I love the animation when she draws on the mirror with her lipstick. It's just how the camera movement goes with the motion and how the vocals go with it too. I also love how she drags it at the end making the line jagged. The vocals are really great too. The voice actress was quite young at the time which makes it even more impressive.

Never in my life have I ever found a bad guy that I love so perfectly. Normally I would resort to one of my favorite Disney Villains, but Darla literally is just so interesting in my opinion. Yeah while the concept of a little bratty character has been made many times before, Darla has a unique design, amazing voice actor, and a perfectly well done character. While most brats would either act way too innocent and annoying where they aren’t likable, they made Darla the perfect amount of a villain because of how much of an obstacle she can be. I love the animation of her portrayal in this song and the smooth frames makes it so intense with all the details! This truly is an amazing movie that definitely deserves a lot more praise than it did back then. The story is absolutely intriguing and nobody comes off as annoying or stupid. I’ve seen a lot of animated movies but this one gives off an amazing vibe. Like as if we can jump into the picture and join them. Very rarely do I see movies do that where they give off some amazing energy to get the crowd in.

Darla looks so innocent and sweet until her true side is unraveled. Hard for me to believe she's the main antagonist. Defiantly the anti Shirley Temple

After looking for a cover version of this song without the laughter interrupting that glorious note right before the end, I can really say that I appreciate the strength and quality of this girl's voice. I can't seem to find a cover that gives me what I really want from this song. Mabey Caleb Hyles will be inspired to cover this one day, or I could make it myself.
