I love the way these good cow horses just pin their ears and get to work when chasing down a cow. They're amazing at their job. Then the second the cow is roped, their ears instantly go forward, getting ready for their next job.
@ElveeKaye Жыл бұрын
I was amazed at how smart the cows are. They'll deliberately go under and around trees, knowing it's harder for the horse and rider to follow under the low branches, and they tangle the ropes around dead trees on purpose. What a job! It's incredible to watch these men and horses at work on an old-timey cattle drive.
@juliejenkins2376 Жыл бұрын
@@ElveeKaye I know right! Clearly this herd is smarter (and faster! lol) than the average herd. You're right, It's truly amazing to watch and see how smart both the cattle (and horses) are.

For starters, go to the event called Pony Penning Days on Chincoteague Island in Virginia, and buy yourself one or two foals that you can raise and train for this task. Also, see about getting yourself a bitless bridle, and a Charro Saddle, and you’re all set up ready to go.

My family has two cattle ranches down in Arizona. I would go down to Arizona 2 times a year for the round ups. The two ranches are on the other sides of a plateau so we’d move the cattle to the east in the spring and west ranch in the fall. Since I was a toddler I would participate in the round up. I tipped my first calf at the age of six and I loved it. I have some really good memories of the round ups. My favorite is when a big old calf got lose in the branding corral. My brother and I had to jump onto the fence in order not to get trampled.

Hard and dangerous work for man and horse and dogs. Every time I heard a rope zing I remembered how many cowboys I have seen missing parts of their fingers. Sitting in the saddle, riding hard and seeing your horse's ears pinned as you run down a cow, becoming a team of one...that is what it's all about!

Those Corrientes are brutal ! Another awesome video !
@LindaCooper-i3f10 ай бұрын
Therefore, the best horse breed to use when working with Corrientes would have to be a horse breed of equal size, and under the circumstances, only the Chincoteague Pony fits the bill. Afterall, they both have Spanish bloodlines because their ancestors were brought here by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage in 1493. Furthermore, we need to get more breeders of Corrientes interested in using Chincoteague Ponies for riding mounts in cattle herding.

They need to possibly introduce the Chincoteague Pony bloodlines into the horses that they are using presently.
@LindaCooper-i3f10 ай бұрын
Perhaps if they crossbred Peruvian Paso mares with Chincoteague Pony stallions, then maybe the mules would be limited to just lugging certain supplies for them.

Find yourself an uncastrated male donkey and breed him to a few good broodmares, you’ll have plenty of mules before you can possibly say ‘Patton’s finally in Berlin’.
