Just had my first experience with Cattleman's Cutlery and I was fairly impressed! Really nice wood grain in these! Thanks for the look Tobias!

Great to hear! I like the line. I'd like it more in 440A!

Mikov has the Piknik, it has the same fork and knife trick and it looks like a Swiss army knife. It’s around 20 euro.

Which still would you like? I've had 1085 in my Condor knives. Then in Cases CV sadly is not that great whatever it is. I think you've told me before but I can't remember what it is! I know I like one stainless it's called Sandvik that is in Mora knives! And something like 14 28n , that is in my Spanish Joker knives! And that maybe Sandvik Steel! I also like that new APR M9. But I can digress what still do you like best? Also D2 I have one coming. But I have not carved with D2, and I do not know what it's going to carve like. I love carving with my pocket knives but it's so much easier just to grab a plastic handle Mora. But I truly would like to just go out there with pocket knives! When it comes to cutting wood it's hard to beat those plastic handled Little Things!

I like both of those. Utensil knives have always been interesting to me.

Don't own a Cattlemans Cutlery, but do have 4 Ropers. The flippers are zebrawood/8cr13 and sandlewood/d2. The traditional(your favorite pattern lol), has green jigged bone and carbon steel. I would purchase again based on my experience with them. Prayers for Kitty.

That Hobo is probably the best hobo I’ve ever seen. It’s a proper trapper style knife that you might edc, but it also would make a great knife & fork. Like it!

It's is right proper and affordable. The Case version is over a $100!

Nice pair of knives for camping! I have only handled the CC sowbelly stockman and I liked it. I am guessing that you have a stockman in your new box. Time will tell! Prayers for kitty, I hope she is feeling better. Pets are like your kids, it’s hard to see them not feeling well.

They look like, good pracrical tools. I enjoy Camp/Scout knifes overall and that one is great value for money, especially with the Zebrawood. That 'Hobo' knife, is cool 😎 It Reminds me of the classic Trapper, which I believe is one of or the most popular patterns in the states 🇺🇲 like the barlow... Hen & Rooster 🐓 had a similar one, which I tried getting, but had sold out. I'm going to try and get myself one of these too... Thanks for sharing buddy, Atb gus 👍

I just wished Cattleman would step up their steel choice just a bit but as I've said to others, for waht they are designed to do, the steel will get the job done.

Nice pair of knives! The chuck wagon is a pretty clever design. Good job on the wood covers. I’ve been looking at their saddlehorn with steer shield. Best to Kitty!
@davidkurle54182 жыл бұрын
I think both of those knives are very cool! I like the looks of the wood covers. Also, that box with the cow and the farm scene is one of the neatest I've seen. But I'm a farm kid, so I'm biased. lol Thanks for showing these off, buddy.

That chuckwagon looks real nice and affordable. I was looking at the Russell boxcar jack, same basic design, but about $100. This one, i wouldnt care too much about keeping pristine. The spoon on a regular hobo just seems to get in the way to use as a knife. Though, i do wish they could figure out a way to add a can opener to one of these.
@KnifeChatswithTobias10 ай бұрын
A canopener would be nice. I think Colonial, at one time made a three layer take apart knife that ditched the spoon and added at a cap lifter / can opener tool in its place.

Nice looking knives; I like the look of the wood covers and shield. Having all stainless construction is a modern upgrade to traditional models. However; still keeps them looking traditional is a nice idea too. ✨😺✨🙂

Hey Tobias I hope Kitty is doing better. I'm surprised those abkt knives aren't more popular. They look nice , I like the simple satin finish and steel construction. Good working man's knives. And NO big c lol on the bolsters!!!

I like the sagebrush handles. For the current price I've just decided the Roper's are worth the small jump so the CC's haven't featured much in my collection.

I have the Roper Pecos carbon steel & it's pretty nice. Kind of a modern traditional as it has a pocket clip. I do like that zebra wood. I need to look at those Cattleman Cutlery knives a little closer. I hope kitty is doing better. When they have been in your family for so long, they become family.
@WilliamsKnifeLife2 жыл бұрын
For a spoon, If there's some wood around when you are camping, you could carve a spoon out of wood. I would recommend practicing that before relying on it. 😆 Or you could go barbarian and just slurp your soup from the edge of the bowl. 🍜🍵
@jaykerivan60712 жыл бұрын
I really like the zebra wood but as far as the steel goes I'm not a huge fan of 3cr, i do enjoy the 8cr for budget but 3cr needs o be maintained and sharpened after every use, to soft for a solid knife steel. I know of knife companies that use 420j2 for liners
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 жыл бұрын
You are correct. it is about as low as you can go with even a budget steel. They really should upgrade the line to at least 440. I'd pay the extra $5 for the zebra wood. Of course for what the Chuckwagon's intended purpose (eating tools) I guess it'll do for most folks but still...
@jaykerivan60712 жыл бұрын
@@KnifeChatswithTobias very true about the Chuck wagon i didn't think about its intended use so 3cr would mange, but I agree on the 440 i believe it's just perfect for beginners with a nice balance balance with decent edge retention if heat treated properly, say hello to skip for me and prayers from my misses and i

I have the elite warthog which Is a very nice design (May have been better polished) and an unimpressive brangas stockman. I think in a bang for your buck Sense they could offer slightly Better materials and quality for the price. It Is a shame as they offer nice unusual models and cool material/color combinations (some models look very similar to Frost offering)
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. These should have 440A instead 3Cr. That would make them a much better back for their buck. I'm also not overly impressed with 1065 carbon steel for a pocket knife. That is what is used in the Roper line. Maybe if they were going with 1080. 1065 is good on machetes and and perhaps a sword as it is tough (soft) and edge retention is not as important as shock absorbancy.
