I bought this knife a couple of years ago. This evening it just got through cleaning its sixth deer. This summer I went fishing more than in the past, so it got used cleaning fish also. It holds a good edge and is easy to resharpen. I have lots of more expensive knives, but this one is the one that gets used. Don`t make the mistake of not taking this thing seriously, it is a heck of a fine tool that anyone can appreciate.

I've been using this knife as a carpenter for 3 years and I love it. I beat on the spine with a 22oz framing hammer regularly with no major damage. Everyone the job talks shit when they see it until they see me use it. Lost the sheath long ago but sits in my pouches fine. In conclusion this is the best knife I've ever bought, no question.

The lack of retention going into and out of the sheath is quite noticeable. I used a single strip of fuzzy Velcro inside the sheath and now it is great!! I used two strips of velcro on the larger "Insulation" knife with the same great result.

I have the duct knife and it rattles in the sheath but I think that's by design as it's not meant to be worn inside the belt or carried for self defense. The automatic saber rattling is a feature.

That little cutout on the bottom of the blade is called the choil and beveling on the spine of the blade is called a swedge.

I use a ranger band hooked on the protrusion of the sheath. Seems to hold well without snagging the knife when you withdraw it.

Good for what it is - a work knife. Sure isn't a survival or combat blade, but even a razor blade can fill those roles if necessary. Probably will get one for the tool collection.

I'd love to see them take on BM....BM has taken most of their market for granted here lately. Operating on prestige and the butterfly tax for too long. It's probably 3-5Cr or something similar. Maybe 440A..... They're not bad blades for the money. A good one to put in the truck box or maybe a go bag of some sort.

How do you remedy the plastic sheets from becoming overly loose is that you heat it up in that area with a heat gun and squeeze it while it’s hot and while it’s squeezed you run it under cold water to quench it so when it cools off it will be now in a tighter condition

Wouldn't take much to take on Benchmade.... Make a knife that works and doesn't have a butterfly tax attached to it. It'd be about that easy. I've bought 3 BMs in the last 6 months....and my only regret is that I bought 3 BMs..... Should have went Spyderco, Cold Steel, or Kershaw/ZT.

I don't think they're knives are really competing with anything but the crappy DeWalt knives or Snap on branded knives from AutoZone. And the DeWalt knives are definitely better, they are decent beater knives for the price. That grind on top would be called a swedge.

These are NOT competition for Gerber like another guy said in the comments. More like competition for really cheap Walmart knives. I can use a razor folder WAY more than a fixed blade on the job.... this knife looks nice enough but I trust CRKT more for quality, and they aren't top notch! Buy a Cold Steel Tanto and that will last you the rest of your life and you can leave it to your kids! On price you are correct for once, literally! Usually you are flat wrong on price but this time you guessed correctly. Home Depot has this for $14.97 on sale right now 5/23/19. I disagree on the sheath comments, who is gonna track down a leather sheath for a $15 knife? This knife is meant for a tool box or tackle box. I really doubt anyone is going to strap it to their belt mainly due to legallity. Here in CO you can only carry 3.5 folder in most cities single edged.

"Spanish notch" - as you say, helps with sharpening. notches for thumb on top of blade are called "jimping." Symmetrical bevels are expected. Knives lacking that are crap.
