Great review. All the details I was looking for. And I was not forced to hear a bunch of extra crap about your future plans and why you havent been posting. Please keep up good work.

Got a Hyper Tough 8V rotary tool. Amazing performance for the money. I use this when portability is required otherwise I prefer the corded Dremel that is on the bench.

I had a Dremel 8220 cordless, it never shut off like those cordless junkers….I say had, because my son got ahold of it, cranked it up to 30k rpm and got the shaft stuck in a blanket and let the smoke out….I had it for about 8 years!

There is a russian tear down video of something similar, along with a Dremel. They both used a pair of 14650 batteries. The Walmart Hyper Tough is pretty much the same.

If you need a cord you might as well buy a pneumatic pencil grinder. My 15+ year old HF version has continued to perform well, better than their newer ones. Sioux and other companies make good ones.

I'm gobsmacked that neither of the cordless did the job without cutting out ! I have a corded Dremel 3000. . . BUT . . . I also have a Parkside (Lidl) cordless and today, I had to cut through a M8 bolt to shorten it. The Parkside didn't stop once ! I didn't know that they were supposed to have some kind of load safety switch, or do they ? I was looking to get another cordless to set up as a 2" rotary sanding station. . . . think I'm going to get another Parkside cordless after watching this. They also take Dremel attachments so it's a win win situation all round.

I Just bought this one I was also drawn to the great reviews and the light on the front Although, It was very disappointed when it cut out, like you say its "Frustrating" I will most likely send it back Do you know of a Small Cordless Rotary Tool that is not designed to cut out Or just works better under some stress.

Comparing a $23 tool to a dremel costing more than 3x the cost at a task that neither of them are really suited for isnt a very fair comparison. A bit bias towards your dremel even though it cut out several times and required reseating the battery and fiddling with the speed control :P The Dremel's clearly slightly more powerful and im sure better QC'd but knowing that none of them can tackle heavy duty tasks is it worth paying the 3x+ cost ? I have a similar clone of the Wen and after seeing this i think its likely the better value knowing their limitations.

I bought one by mistake. It's a nice little tool for hobbys but the motor is too under powered for serious work.

I bought the same from FERM 5000 to 25000 rpm 8 volt and its in blue. But the Quality is much better. Bought in Belgium designed in Netherlands and made in PRC

Way too much pressure on the cutting, the whole point of a rotary tool is to use the crazy speed to your advantage, even the corded one you’re pressing so hard there’s no speed.

Thanks for posting the useful information. The Milwaukee rotary tool is not that good. The power board overheats and fails after a few hours of moderate use. After that it must be repaired by Milwaukee or replaced with something else. What is strange is that that tool gets mostly four and five star reviews.
@_P0tat07_3 жыл бұрын
I really hope Milwaukee comes out with a m12 fuel rotary tool. And before someone says it, cause I know they will if I don’t say it, they do have a straight brushless die grinder that accepts 1/8” shank tools, but you can’t put dremel attachments into it like the ring light or the flex shaft (not that I would use one with a cordless rotary tool, but you get the idea)

So corded will always beat cordless? DOH! Even the "mighty" Dremel cordless had problems - but not everybody wants to cut hardened steel bolts. Pricewise this WEN is an adequate hobby tool, and trade-quality rotary tools are FAR too expensive just for occasional use.

the Wen sounds like it's got a bearing going south, or a fan blade ready to fly off. Given the build quality apparent when you opened it up, not surprising. This tool would be a hard pass for me at any price. Always a fan of the cordless Dremels, been through many over the years. Perfect to just grab when you need to give something a quick buff or sand/shape. But yeah, if you're cutting or running it more than a few minutes at a time, you gotta have a cord.

That's ok. Go drive to a home store, fight traffic, waste gas, deal with idiot drivers only to find they dont have any in stock. Or you could shop walmart. Or target.

@@anthonychase4945 yeah but you know what you’re buying. A lot of the items you get on Amazon are previously returned items. Or you may get a bad batch of the product that didn’t pass quality control and is being sold at the same price or worse... you get a counterfeit product! Especially with Chinese branded tools... look at the Wiha/Xioami precision screwdriver set. Wiha partnered with China to make it and China is counterfeiting a $20 Chinese made product?! Last I checked dremel’s weren’t in high demand. I’m not saying Amazon isn’t worth shopping but you can often find things cheaper in store now.

Stop saying ‘Dremel’. ‘Dremel’ is a brand- Like ‘Coke’. It’s a ROTORY tool! ROTORY! Btw- it’s not’ saying much anymore comparing a diffrent rotary tool to a Dremel. Dremel is now made in Mexico with substandard parts. Your Dremel is not going to last NEAR what we’ve grown accustomed to- AND, like everything else, is extremely overpriced. I’m only writing this based on personal experience as I’ve always exclusively been a Dremel consumer.
@zaneseligman13136 ай бұрын
You said the motor is underrated . Do you know what underrated means?? Stop using the word Dremel. Dremel is a ‘brand’.
