To those who haven't figured it out, this is a true story. Old man finch who visits the pond every night at Springvale is the old man. You can tell from his normal dialogue, and also from the few lines he has during the recent Wishful Drops event quest

Later when I did Kaeya's pirate quest, the second riddle made my heart broke, cuz I knew it was related Finch and the Spring Fairy. I recall from the lore that the concept Oceanids have of love(this includes Rhodeia, the Spring Fairy, and the mini Oceanid pet) is rather different from the love we know. They seek to fuse with other Oceanid forms in order to share their experiences. This is what Love means to them. Smaller Oceanids have an admiration of greater ones, this I believe was a good part of the reason why the mini Oceanid from the event sought Rhodeia, as it's supposed to be one of the, if not THE, strongest Oceanid in Teyvat.

The moment I saw her, I got remembered by the story in limited event 3.8 "She seems like an eilodon/other entities that's definitely not a human, a strong blue hair and a blue pupil" And then, the second act came and discussing about a poem that got drifted on the water... I was little bit confused.. In the end they discussing about a fairy spring on springvale, suddenly I remembered this story ._. In the third act, it finally revealed and damn, a big thumbs up for the story designer. The only thing seems bizarre to me is, they put this whole story on the limited time event man, no one gonna be able to experience this when they join too late :( The 3.8 that told us eilodon can be transformed to a human (yeah, they tell us that people on fontaine can be transformed to be a oceanid, but still). I really confused with the decision to put this kind of story on a limited time event 😅

So this is pprobably how the story went: The boy in the story is Old Man Finch while the fairy is Rhodeia, the Oceanide of Qingce that we fight. They became best friend until realising the she can't be by the boy's side due to her being eternity while the boy is mortal, the fairy (Rhodeia) left and went to Qingce, following her decision as she believe she must leave the boy one day.

To be honest after the 4.1 Archon Quest I had no expectations from this event whatsoever and the 1st act for the time proved my thinking as it was slow and boring for the most atleast for me but damn did things started getting interesting with the 2nd act and by the time the 3rd act arrived it started to feel like I was playing a different event.
