Why Tingyun is Back as Fugue (Honkai: Star Rail Lore)

I said this on another video but I'll say it here too. I thought for sure Fugue was going to show up in a sequel companion mission to the one where we launched her stuff into space. But then they said this was going to be a Trailblaze Mission, not Continuance, so I was confused as to why these two characters were in the same story. But after doing the story, it finally makes sense. Tingyun was an ordinary foxian who became Phantylia's pawn, having her entire identity stolen and used to spread chaos on the Luofu, thus spreading the influence of Destruction. Then she's rescued by Ruan Mei and given another chance at life, before choosing to stay away from her home and wander the stars so as to break out of Phantylia's grasp. Thus, she assumes the identity of Fugue. In contrast, Sunday was the chess player, and so many people were his pawns. His entire identity revolved around being the head of the Oak Family and spreading the influence of Order. He was THE big shot. After his fall from grace, he loses his identity and is "rescued" by Robin, giving him another chance at life. He does not have a choice but to leave his home, and he does so as just Sunday. Fugue meets with Yukong as herself, while Sunday hides behind a disguise when meeting with Robin. Fugue and Sunday's stories start as polar opposites of each other, yet they mirror each other at the turning point.

They always intended to bring her back. Phantylia's fake body dissolving and they are not being able to find a single clue about her real body's whereabout was for this moment.

more like... they did left one blank slate that they could write whatever they wanted from this part, like an open ending if they decided that she wasn't needed... the devs could just keep that slate unwritten and let the players create her own ending from that we knew until now, since its not like the developers know what they will be doing fully over the course of 10 years, only the main road itself and 2 or 3 worlds planned from start like Arlan: he is just... there, no more relevance beyond being the security of Herta station until they decided that he must follow Asta outside of it, challenge himself to interact with Herta or to solve the problems with those curios another blank slate

You use the term "resurrecting" which is wrong, especially in the context of showing that Tingyun didn't actually die at all. Also since Honkai Star Rail takes place in the same multiverse with Honkai Impact 3rd, the laws of life and death are still the same for both games. So what this means is simple: characters cannot come back after they die, unless they can exist as a pure form of energy (which isn't the case here). So it's impossible, so far, to resurrect someone in these games.

Kinda but not really, Tingyun still exists as a playable character and Fugue as a PC was just released this past week, but within lore Tingyun was basically turned into Fugue

I think it is implied that the spirits they are blessed with are a power of Emanator, not the generals themselves. Multiple Luofu generals have had the same lightning lord serve them in past. People can't pass the title of "Emanator" every time someone becomes a general or stops being one. Whereas Marshal Hua to which all six Xianzhou generals report to is likely the Emanator of Hunt. It is similar to how Diamond from IPC is an Emanator of Preservation and the Ten Stonehearts and their powers are a gift from him.

I'll be honest, it's really hard to give a damn about her return when not only did we never even really know her (The story tries to justify why our "first encounter" with her counted, but it's a pretty weak excuse and it seemed more like the writers having to do damage control for the mess that was Luofu's story) but also because of the fact that our "reunion" happens OFF-SCREAN (Seriously, I could have sworn I had missed a Quest because of how abrupt her reintroduction was) + Her being added in the Penacony Epilogue is very weird, its seens like they just didn't have anywhere else to put her so they just shoved her last minute before the new planet.

why is the luofu's story a mess? I keep seeing it pop up but I always thought it was fine and didnt see any major issues with it. I do kinda agree with how they reintroduced her that couldve been handled differently but i do think its a warm welcome especially after doing yukongs story

My view isn't popular but I wished they didn't bring Tingyun back. This was the same pressure people gave Nobuhiro Watsuki when he wrote Kaoru's "death" in Rurouni Kenshin. He altered the plot so that the body they found was a puppet instead.
