Caught an Ahi Solo fishing on my 150 Montauk out of Waianae, Hawaii

Yesterday I lost a striped marlin that jumped in my boat so today I decided to try and catch it but instead I was pleasantly surprised with this ahi, you win some and you lose some, today was definitely a win.

Good work braddah, nice fish. Maybe consider engine kill switch lanyard when boat in gear and no one at the helm. I almost died getting thrown off the side 18 miles out fighting ahi solo, boat in gear. Lucky I could grab my outrigger before hitting the water. Have fun but be safe out there braddah 🤙🏼

Nice catch bro!! The exact same thing happened to me with the gaff 😂😂 2 or 3 times, the hook came off and I fell, keep fishing 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Nice work - scary when you flipped backwards and gaft came out and fell backward - once the fish is dead with the bang stick ever consider using a "come a long" to winch up and over the gunnel?

Yeah, definitely! Hard work but rewarding and... on those days when you don't catch anything filling up only 8 gallons is much easier to take then filling up 30 gallons.

I think I bought it from this place called Bangstick Bill's online but it was long time ago so not certain. I just bought the powerhead and made the shaft with galvanized plumbing pipe.

I have a Montauk 150 too. I go out by myself. I got the same type inflatable life vest belt with a plb attached to the belt. I wear the wrist band cut off switch too. Funny how we came to using similar accessories on the same boat. Nice set up with the twin shotgun pole holders on your seat base. Did you have to reinforce the base to accommodate those pole holders? Nice video and congratulations! You received some great positive feedback as well!

Cool that we set up similarly SECONDDITCH! I Love my set up but always trying to refine it to make it more efficient. I did not reinforce the mounts for rod holders mounted on the seat they seem to be holding up just fine. Mahalo for your comments.
