There's no double o, so it can't be booni, it's with short 'o' sound - /ɑ/. Do you know that Bobby Farrel, dancing in that video clip, made almost no vocal contributions to the group's records? Their producer Frank Farian performing the male parts on the songs in the studio. Btw, great reaction :) can you react to Gloria Estefan, Conga? or anything by NANA?

that guy was brought into the band for his dancing, he didnt actually sing on any of the songs, the guy who wrote all the music is the one singing on the tracks...Farian was the true mastermind behind this band. He had picked three women and a man from a catalog of artists for the formation, and the voice on the recordings was his own. Bobby Farrell, the "lead singer" and dancer in Boney M., simply moved his lips in sync to the songs when performing on stage.

This is a German group but Boney M. was a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up was from Jamaica, one from Aruba, and one from Montserrat. You're Jamaican too if I'm not mistaken right? This at one time was one of the biggest selling groups in the world, besides ABBA and the Beatles.

This was my generation, I was a teen who crashed discos to enter dance contests (they were all the rage back then)....anyway, this song was a fun song but not anything anyone took seriously as "good" music. The name is pronounced "bone-e". The only things he has in common with Prince is he's a skinny, black man. Prince was a musical genius. To compare this guy to Prince is laughable. If you get to react to their most memorable hit Rasputin listen to the lyrics it tells the true story of a "priest" who's behaviour helped lead to the downfall and massacre of the Russian monarchy and lead to the communist era. Read a quick wiki about what happened first.

Boney M was very successful in Europe and Latinoamerica in the mid 70´s till the early 80´s. Some of their hits were huge, like Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin, My Baker, and this one Daddy Cool. And yes.... this song is cool

When I was in my first year in college during freshers week a few of us were in my friends’ apartment having drinks before we headed out. We could see a bunch of guys doing the same thing in an apartment in the next block and they all left leaving one guy behind on his own. He put this song on and danced around to it by himself 😂 We came across him later that night in the club and surrounded him singing this song. Great memories 👌🏻

Those serial moans is not part of the song. They just added those moans at the show. If you listen to the album version those sounds are not present.

Their hit 'Ma Baker' (about her real-life criminal gang) was my favourite wholesome song as a small child. It begins: "Freeze! I'm Ma Baker. Put your hands in the air and give me all your money!"

Hooray! I've been asking this song for soooooo long! So much fun. As I have said before it was ABBA v Boney M in the late 70's for pop/disco.

My heart is happy. They are my childhood in England. They still play them at partys and clubs there. You have to do Rasputin, Brown Girl in the Ring and Rivers of Babylon.

I love his dancing. It's full speed eccentric. I could do without the moaning part though. I don't think it's in the studio version though.
