She's making you blush! LOL! This is the short version of the song too. It's really a 17 min. song. This song jump started Donna's career. She wrote the lyrics but didn't have many words at the time. That's why she added all the groans and sighs...to take up some space if you will. She recorded it as a demo because she thought another artist would record the song. The producers liked her version and had her record an extended version. They were playing it in clubs and private parties without Donna knowing. It was banned in other countries because it was too sexual for the time. But, it was the 70's remember and others loved it! Donna actually recorded this song, lying on the recording studio floor with the lights dimmed really low because she couldn't handle seeing the guys in the booth looking at her while she was singing it. She said she had imagined how Marilyn Monroe might sing the song and this was the result. When Donna returned to the US after living in Germany for awhile, she was an instant star! She had NO idea the song had been playing at all and was in complete shock. Thanks for the reaction! Please do more Donna ... Dim All the Lights, No More Tears (with Barbra Streisand), She Works Hard for the Money, On the Radio...so many.

It's so funny how young people today, the generation of WAP, react to the moans on this song. This was on the radio day and night. I was a kid and hearing this on the radio. They're always worried about what older people will think. Old people were jamming to this on the radio! This song made it to #2 on the US Hot 100 music chart in 75. It was everywhere! There is a much longer club version.

She always had songs that charted in South Africa, the one that I think should get more attention is her version of Could It Be Magic, it was a top 10 hit here, the extended version for me is too long, I was about 8 years old when it was released. She had a very versatile voice. I have 3 vinyl records from her.

Donna Summer doesn't really get enough credit for who she was in music. Yes, she was the queen of disco, queen of the genre. But more importantly, she was Pop Music first female mega star. Selling millions worldwide and pushing the boundaries by crossing into multiple genres. Many mention she was the first artist to bring 3 double albums to the top of the charts. She was the first female artist and the first black artist to bring 3 albums to the top of the Billboard 200, back to back. They just happen to be multi-platinum selling double albums. She was the first female artist to repeat having the #1 single and the #1 album, on the Billboard charts simultaneously ( 3 times in 8 months). She was the first female to have 2 singles in the top 3 (twice in 4 months), on the Billboard Hot 100. The first to have 2 #1 singles in the top 5, and top 3 on the same chart. The first female to sit on top of 3 major charts simultaneously. The first artist to have 3 #1 singles, and 5 top 10 singles and /or 5 top 5 singles, in a calendar year (79). She scored 9 consecutive top 5 singles, all selling over 1 million copies or better (a physical sales record) between Aug 78 - Oct 80. She was the most commercially successful female artist of the 70s in the US market and Worldwide. She sold over 20 million albums and had 10 gold (1 mil copies) and 2 platinum (2 mil copies) singles, and the first gold max-single in the US market. Worldwide she was a top 10 artist, for 4 consecutive years, 76,77,78 & 79. She was first black female artist to be played in heavy rotation on MTV She Works Hard for the Money -Aug 83 & Unconditional Love Nov 83. She set a precedent by having 3 consecutive videos placed in heavy rotation, not surpassed until Janet Jackson 1989 (Rhythm Nation). She is the only artist to be nominated for a Grammy in 5 different genres (at least 3 times each) R & B, Pop, Rock, Gospel & Dance. She is the only artist to win a Grammy in 4 different genres. Named the "diva de tutti dive" , the first true diva of the modern pop era, by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mary J Blige, Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder have referred to her, as a game changer.

She never stops being cool. First album I ever bought, just figured out it was Bad Girls, 1979., so I was 14. I was too young to really get her sexuality but her voice and the shimmering groove were so great, she made me dance all around the living room to that album. Still do. Great cardio. Same time, bought my first single, Blondie, Call Me. I think that pretty much set my musical style. Ha ha.

Finally I've been waiting forever for you to do Donna again. It's been far too long.Donna was joking when she did this imitating marylin Monroe. Her first top 10 song in America. If you were to listen to this and then Macarthur Park, last dance , or On the Radio, you would swear it's different singer. Donna was a chameleon, no limits to what she could do with her voice. You said you wanted it longer. With this song Donna invented the extended version of a song. The first person EVER! The extended version of Love to Love You is like 17 minutes long and many, many babies were born because of it. Please keep Donna coming. The one true Queen of pop and disco!

Yes, seriously, she had a lot of nerve. Helped people get more pushy and stupid. Not necessary. A few other songs she did, much better content.

Casablanca Record Label CEO Neil Bogart said the SAME THING when he heard it,.. "It Needs to be longer" , so he asked Giorgio Moroder her producer to extend it and the First EVER 12" single was born. 17 minutes of glorious bass, strings and Donna moaning,!! check it out.

I was 13 years old in Germany when my parents bought this record. My hormones at that age went wild. That was the cover of the album. Munich Machine. Donna spoke pretty good German. Anyway, I was not prepared for this record.

She was something very special man! The long album version is the best! No way could she perform that way LIVE! This is the cleaned up version that they played on the radio. PULL UP THE ALBUM VERSION!!!

The thing I know you do not know about music from the 70's, especially Disco music, is that the single version was often cut down from a much longer track that was designed to be played full-length in the Discoteques, which is where most people went to hear the newest Disco music. If you weren't there, you were square! The singles were still big hits but were abbreviated versions designed to fit on a 45rpm record for top 40 radio airplay. All of the songs on the Disco chart were released on a 12' 33RPM OR A 12" 45RPM record and were usually much longer than the 7" 45rpm version. When you pick a Disco song which is short, it is probably the 7" 45 rpm version.

This "song", is not talent, it's just catchy for obvious over the top reasons. Anyone can do that, just, the question is would most people want to. No.

You did as always a great job 👍but I really had to giggle about your reaction ☺I was in my early 20s when this was played on radio and in the clubs in Germany and funnily nobody really cared (only perhaps in Bavaria...) Concerning your ideas to the happenings during the recording I recommend THE scene from the movie "When Harry met Sally" 😉😇
