Fun Fact: Part of the reason "Another one bites the dust" was so successful in the US was that a lot of "black stations" played it on the radio. They actually thought the song was written by black artists and were genuinely surprised when they invited the band for interviews and saw they were four white dudes from Britain.

"Bites the dust" is a euphamism for dying. "Take for everything that I had, and kick me out of my home. Are you happy? Are you satisfied? How long can you stand the heat? Outta the doorway the bullets rip....." It's about a guy being pushed beyond a limit break. But a great song.
@GrifoStelle2 жыл бұрын
If memory serves, it was a reference both to the violence of prohibition era mobsters/gangsters and to lovers quarrels when one partner puts other things before their relationship. This song is full acceptance of the violence of life and being a willing participant in it. It's an "if I can't win I'm taking you with me" disregarding what peace there may be. The lyrics tell the story: Steve walks warily down the street With his brim pulled way down low. Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet, Machine guns ready to go. "Are you ready? hey, are you ready for this? Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?" Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat ... (another one bites the dust, counting the dead here, and on the return home a screaming match with their partner and the end of them with seething resentment) A. "How do you think I'm going to get along Without you when you're gone?!" B. "You took me for everything that I had And kicked me out on my own! Are you happy, are you satisfied!?" A. "How long can you stand the heat??" Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat, look out! A. "Oh take it - Bite the dust. bite the dust" Hey, Another one bites the dust. Another one bites the dust, ow. Another one bites the dust he he. Another one bites the dust haaaa .... Ooh... shoot out. (Another relationship gone, dead piling up. Steve fully abandons any hessitation he had. Again, this reflected the bootlegging gangsters of the minigun era, imagine mob movies like the God father) B. "There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man, And bring him to the ground. You can beat him. You can cheat him. You can treat him bad and leave him When he's down. But I'm ready yes, I'm ready for you I'm standing on my own two feet." Out of the doorway the bullets rip Repeating to the sound of the beat Another one bites the dust ... Hey I'm gonna get you too. Another one bites the dust, Shoot out!

@Johnon - True. Inventor of Brian's amp that gave Queen their unique sound, financial whiz that saved them from going broke and breaking up, great bassist and songwriter of over 20 Queen songs and amazing bass lines. Yeah, bite the dust comes from losing a old west gunfight and falling face down in the dirt street. I am surprised that more people are not aware of it. Also clues to it meaning that someone was not only defeated, but shot dead are the lyrics "Steve walks slowly down the street, brim pulled way down low, ain't no sound but the sound of his feet, machine gun ready to go" followed by (& repeated later) "outta the doorway the bullets rip to the sound of the beat". And later he says "it's a shootout" While his song is not about a western style gunfight, it is definitely about a shootout with machine guns of some sort. I always pictured "Steve" having a tommygun like in the '30's myself.

@@Saltyzwiggy Grew up rural, so around a LOT of old westerns back in the day... I kind of always got the impression he was influenced into the "Steve" character from Steve McQueen... just a thought. ;o)

You gotta stop being caught off guard Mr. Video. There is some badass music out there. You now have found the top of the food chain. Everyone else is under Queen lol. They are literally musical geniuses. Looking forward to more of your reaction.

Used to love hearing this one at the roller rink and trying not to get slammed into the walls or each other (giving away my age) but it was good clean fun 🤘 🤘

Freddie was the most elemental being ever to walk the Earth, he was pure electricity when on stage.

Weird Al did a parody of this called Another One Rides the Bus. When I was in junior high, my bus driver would play it every day on the way to school...it was crowded. Kept us laughing instead of clawing for space. #lol One of the few Weird Al songs I can listen to where it doesn't totally ruin the original for me-Queen is just too good for that!

And to think Freddie didn't want to put this song out 🤷. This was such a awesome song at skating rink.....one of the more popular songs 😁. The only complaint I have is you can't do this song without doing We are the champions 😓

😂😂😂I respect him on a whole new level! To be real, this is my favorite Queen song. Crazy Little Thing Called Love is fun too, kind of an Elvis feel.

Some Queen songs I'd recommend you react to (others have probably said all these already): - Somebody to Love (montreal live 81) - Love of my Life (Wembly live 86) - Don't Stop Me Now - The Show Must Go On - Under Pressure (live at wembly) I could just list every queen song now but those 5 and versions are the ones I'd love to see you do first

Shy John Deacon wrote this. He was called there secret weapon. Write a hit, a great bass line. He said the song was about St. Valentines massacre in Chicago. The mob” Machine guns flyin, another one bites the dust. Please do “I’m in love with my car” Montreal 81.🚗💨
@Saltyzwiggy4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I must have heard that it was based on the St Valentines massacre long ago...because I had always pictured Steve carrying a tommygun.

My very first Queen song. ^u^ You should've seen my heartbroken face when my mom told me I couldn't go see Freddie, because he already passed away by the time I fell in love with this band.

Here's an odd fact coming from a former longtime ff/emt, this song is a 100 beats per minute; the same amount of speed of CPR chest compressions. Another one bites the dust has absolutely, many many times, played in our thoughts while performing cpr

Dude you have become my favorite reactor! I love your reactions especially to Queen! This was great, but you should react to Another One Bites the Dust Live at Wembley, not Live Aid which you’ve already done, the Wembley version is AMAZING! As a rule with Queen, Live is almost always better than the studio. Another suggestion is Somebody To Love Live in Montreal 81. You’ll feel like you’ve been to church! Seriously Freddie said it was his favorite even over Bohemian Rhapsody. Enjoy Friend. Keep the great reactions coming♥️♥️🤣🤣🤣
