I understand that in some areas, deer are attracted to the sound of chainsaws. The loggers cut down the trees, take the trunk logs, and leave the tops, with the fresh out of reach leaves in abundant supply. So after the loggers quit for the day, it's deer buffet. Chainsaws="we eat good tonight!"

@pdm12894 ай бұрын
Domestic hogs are dangerous and can be destructive if left to themselves. One of the biggest differences is domestic pigs get their eye teeth/tusks cut when they are a few days old to make them manageable.

@@mea3665 I worked at a farrowing house with an active feeder pig operation. Expecting sows are notorious for trying to get out of the farrowing crates. They will actively seek a place to be alone a make a nest away from other hogs, especially the boars. It only takes about one month for an escaped sow with a litter of piglets to become feral. If she and the piglets get beyond the month mark in the wild, the piglets might be saved for feeders, but that sow is heading to the market or slaughter house ASAP. And at least sows will head to the nearest brush and timber. Boars just line out seeking the nearest sow in heat they can smell, even miles away. They get rough in a hurry and they only have one thing on the mind. After they satisfy that desire they eat until they regain strength and are ready to go out for another round. They are feral from day five. They are worthless on the farm, or slaughter, and will be docked down to nothing at the sale barn.

Hi Daniel 👋. You did good, catching that stinky boar. Another one down makes for a good day. Thanks for taking us along while you were cutting down the cedars. That impliment does an efficient job on the trees and brush. I don't miss living in OK, in that heat. It only got to 92 here in NC, but I'm totally heat intolerant, so it always feels like 100+ to me. I do what I need to and get right home, under the air-conditioned comfort. It's always nice to see the girls, Brandon and, of course, Charlie. I told Dejay yesterday that I liked the pictures she took, and put at the merch bldg. She just needs a cute picture of Charlie. He's become quite a hit on the homestead. We'll, now that your done, you can go in and cool off until it's time to go get Houston m. Enjoy the rest of your day. Sending love from NC.

Piginator Dan'l! Yup, agree with greasing those uprights on the trap. Always a pleasure to see Charlie's antics, even when being a weirdo. Perfect BBQ weather in Seattle today. Mid-70s, breezy. I grilled batches and batches of meat for a fund raiser BBQ for our church's Missions trip to Fiji next year. Lamb Chops, Chicken Legs, and Brats. All marinated in Soy, Garlic, Ginger, and Pineapple. Last time we raised a couple of thousand dollars, we might've done similarly again today. Ate GOOD, got some sun, watched people enjoying the park we were gathered at.

Daniel, here is a breed of goat you might be interested in. Gulabi pateri goats are prized dairy animals. Their large body size also means that they can produce quite a bit of meat, so they are often raised as a dual-purpose breed. The Gulabi breed is very friendly and they make wonderful pets. The meat alone may be profitable.
