My mom told me when I was in the womb the doctors said I was gonna be born with autism, but then she said that, they were wrong. When I was born, the nurses and docters were testing me and they found out I was actually born without autism and they were shocked to see that it went away because when my mom was pregnant with me I already had autism in the womb and then I was born without it although I had asthma until I was 6 years old and I remember being told I had ADHD at age 8 years old but thankfully I’m healthy now

I was a teacher for 38 years. Such stories are a teacher’s reality. This story, like many others, is what many good people go through. It’s hard to see it and it’s heartbreaking, and it makes me think of how some people who don’t know such folks as individuals rely on stereotypes to support harsh and negative judgments. The judge is a blessing in the lives of so many.

To Michelle: Your son is an inspiration to millions of people, but as his mother you have truly done an amazing thing! Not just because you are raising an autistic boy, or you hit the soft spot of a judge in traffic court, or that your story is on KZbin... but because your love and dedication to your sacred mission is evident in both yourself and in your progeny. Many families are woefully unable to raise an articulate, respectful, and brilliant young man in the best of times... you haven't just raised a child, you've raised the bar. Please never lose your spark, for millions of parents could learn tomes from your example! To Arion: You are an inspiration to millions of people. You are intelligent, articulate, self-aware, caring, loving, and mature. Most children your age do not have these qualities, and indeed many adults are severely lacking in these areas. You are different, because you work hard and believe in yourself and you are destined to succeed. Your autism/ADHD is not a curse, it is a blessing. Some people say these things as platitudes or trying to be politically correct, but I really mean that (I think most people in these comments will agree with me). I think you should not worry about letting down your family; instead, keep working to be the best man you can be. Your family (and most of the Internet) is already proud of you... not because you're different, but because you're a good boy and you will be an even better man. Also, please do not lose your sense of humor! As an artist, it will serve you well! This is my diatribe about intelligence: One of the things that some people say, which makes me sad, is "he's so smart!" or "he's so lucky to be ____!" Bah! Success comes with hard work. It's true that some people are born into a situation where success comes easily, but for me the valor comes from working toward excellence. I have always been disheartened when people told me I was a smart boy, or gifted, or lucky. I worked hard to succeed in school, make friends, and pursue a career. When Michelle said that she worked hard, I believe it and I also believe that this is the reason that both of them are great people. The struggles are real, and they should be lauded and not pitied. If you have read this far, thank you (I tend to ramble, but I hope this is a cogent post)! "If life were easy, everyone would be good at it." This is something I firmly believe and live by. Judge Caprio saw something special in this young man and his mother, and he was absolutely right. Stay strong and stay awesome, the both of you!
