I tape the caulk tube to the caulk gun for ultimate control , makes a huge difference by keeping the tube from rotating around on the caulk gun. A simple strip of tape around the tube well will secure it

Wow now that's a game changer never heard of it, never even thought about it. I guess most the time it's ok, but having a fixed angle will make a huge difference.

Very interesting discussion. If you work with many different products long enough and u care about what you do the conclusions are evident. I do not believe there is one to rule them all though. It depends on many variables. I think that's where the lack of progressing resides. Many ppl just want to use there go to wether that be for whatever reason but I think after awhile of repition and familiarity with a vast array a painter should have many different caulking in their arsenal. You can also rattle can prime ur caulking and then paint. It won't crack with flat as a finish if it's primed or at least I've never seen it. Once again many many factors take place. Do the best you can and get back to your loved ones as mentioned, that's what's important. It's really not that serious. Happy Painting Yall

We never use chalk for nail heads, only fillers , and sand with heavy grit paper to stop any shiny spots

a good clean, caulking job can be the difference between crisp,popping finished look or big globs of caulking. A good brand with a proper flow rate will allow for a professional look and application. Thanks Chris! Paint Life Rules!

My 2 main questions:Why don’t our cartridges here in the states come with the screw on nozzles like everyone’s else in the world? Also why aren’t any of our caulkings smooth?It boggles my mind.I’ve used soudal from Australia and No Nonsense from the UK And they are super extremely smooth unlike the sticky crap here in the US. Im talking of course standard painters and decorators caulking There’s are far superior to ours period. Like most other things of course.

Is the material called "caulk" or "caulking"? The labels on the tubes and the chemist calls it caulk while the painter always calls it caulking.

We just got a very durable caulking/sealant with Wetwall shower panels. It required denatured alcohol to remove it. Do you have an equivalent product?

Hi Billy, Yes, we have a 100% silicone. Silicone products are moisture cured and require solvents to clean up and/or remove. We also have a Tub & Tile which is acrylic, paintable and cleans up with soap and water. Silicones are most commonly used in showers as they adhere excellent to tile and glass and perform best in moist environments.

Wow bring these products to Australian painters! you will make a fortune..caulking that cracks under flat paint that isnt 100% acrylic is so annoying. Also clear caulking is so hard to find here.
