Thank you! I get in the zone once I start working but in general my “work personality” is slow and methodical. Glad you’re enjoying the vids. It looks like we’re a nice little group of enthusiasts for this sort of work and it’s nice to be a part of it 👍 cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, another fantastic video, as lve said before my knowledge of anything mechanical is nil, yet l find watching these videos fascinating, are you self taught, or garage trained, looking forward to seeing you put it back together, thanks

Thanks, it’s really nice to hear when people are enjoying the videos! I don’t know 100% but I’m pretty sure they’re not for everyone with them being rather detailed but I’m trying to take you all on the journey with me including when things don’t quite go to plan (problem solving then comes into play). To answer your question, self taught when it comes to mechanic work but I am an apprentice trained mechanical engineer albeit in a very different field - I worked in manufacturing on high speed production lines, I think my training gives me a general background in understanding how mechanical mechanisms work and also a particular thought process / mentality. Having said that, there are still times where I’m wondering what’s going on! Cheers for the comment and for watching, great to have you along 👍 cheers, Phil

Hey, thanks so much! 🙌😁 Slow going on the next vid so far as I try to find affordable parts! But hope to bring it out soon, starting the testing of other components and then hopefully the rebuild! cheers, Phil

Thanks Alastair! Glad you’re liking them, huge amount of work both on the engine and at the editing desk but worth it when I hear how much people are enjoying watching them! I better go get to work then 👍😁 cheers, Phil

Thanks for the video Phil! Always a joy to see a new video pop up. Excellent work. Finally some engine action! Cheers

Thank you! Yeah, it felt good to finally be opening the engine up. I almost stopped for the day when I took the cylinder head off and confirmed the bent con rod (was getting pretty tired!) but pushed on to get it removed and glad I did. Still some more investigation to go… cheers, Phil

Hey Phil, really enjoyed this vid and the fact that you are gaining your strength back to be able to continue your project. Also glad you liked my comment about the mouldy water 😂. Anyway you take care and am looking forward to the next instalment. Cheers, Steve W. Oh and btw it’s good to see you’ve still got 5S discipline in your garage ( gained from our Unilever days 🤣).

Hi Steve! Didn’t realise it was your comment as didn’t recognise your user name! Thanks for taking part in the poll and for the comment, I like to include the viewers in the work if I can, genuinely appreciate all of the feedback that I’m getting! I’m getting better day by day, still a ways to go but I’m back to the car work, so can’t complain! Ah well, 5S was always overrated 😂 cheers, Phil

Challenging work to say the least! Guess the result confirmed your expert suspicions as to the most likely cause of the engine seizure. Amazing video...5⭐!

Thanks so much, I liked getting a gold star! ⭐️ 😀 I’m finding the work challenging and interesting too, I’m glad you’re enjoying the vids! Keep watching, there may be another surprise in store but I hope not! Cheers, Phil

I suppose if the VMs didn’t make engines as complicated as this, we wouldn’t have such interesting videos to watch!

Working with my father in law on my older c30 as made appreciate just how easier older cars are to work on, I guess what they say about not wanting you to work on your own motors anymore is clearly true lol 😅. I would be surprised if that bent rod isn’t the sole issue, fingers crossed ay, Hope you’re well buddy 👍🏻

Hi Mick, yes, I enjoy working on my older cars for exactly that reason too! I’m a bit worried that it isn’t just the single con rod too but fingers crossed 🤞 I’m feeling well thanks, still have the odd more difficult day but in general moving int be right direction 👍 cheers, Phil

What fell off at 07.56? As you were turning the engine back to level. Hope this helpful.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ve reviewed the footage and searched the garage floor and can’t find what it was! 😭

Does anyone know if an acrylic and silicone sealant remover would work on the sump sealant? Would make life less stressful if it did. I had one of the wonderful Citroen ZX Volcane (a petrol 1.9l) that unfortunately I drove through what I thought was a puddle and turned out to be more - result bent con rods and an engine rebuild. Some cars are more susceptible than others - check where your air intake scoop is, if it's low down be wary.

I think a sealant remover is worth a try! I think I’ve got some somewhere, so maybe it’ll make an appearance in a future video 👍 Sorry to hear about the Volcane, honestly water into the intake is really easy to do and I feel sorry for those it has happened to. As you say, sometimes the air inlet are surprisingly low down on the front of the car! Cheers, Phil
