I am proud that Jakub Tolar is Dean of my medical school. He is so hard working, passionate and genuine. And you too, Eddie Vedder!
@roryemmons7929 Жыл бұрын
I got to work on this wonderful video with these wonderful people. We shot this in PJ's practice space. Meeting these kids was to meet someone who truly lived and took advantage of every single waking moment that they had. They were funny, lively, and you couldn't walk away without be affected by this. Mr. Vedder made this all happen. When it was time for his time on camera he said we should be shooting more stuff with Dr. Tolar because he has way more interesting things to say. Someone told him "if we don't get you into this than no one will watch it!" and then he reluctantly agreed and did fantastic on camera. My impression is that Mr. Veddar is a humble person who likes to smile and bring people joy. We set up our gear and were shooting when all of a sudden I realized the guy next to me was actually Eddie Vedder, who I listened to all through my teen years as a grunge teen. He smiled and asked quietly if everything was going well. He didn't need any attention, he just showed up and blended in to see what was happening. I wished I would have gotten a picture of me and Vedder but honestly it was enough to learn that Eddie is a person who is humble, and a passion for making things happen and has no fear of not being in the spotlight. I don't know if the kids ever listened to his music, but it didn't matter to him. He joked around with them and made them smile, and it seemed like that's all he cared about in the moment. Plus it was great to learn about this condition (also heart breaking), but meeting the kids still effects me to this day. I only got an afternoon to meet the guy, but it was enough to learn he's one in a million. Though not that he would admit it! Sometimes you meet your heroes and they exceed expectations. Also Eddie was right. Dr. Tolar was really really interesting and fascinating to talk to.

After watching this video about EB, I used the link that Pearl Jam provided & just donated some money for EB Research. I truly empathize with all the individuals in this video & worldwide who are battling, dealing, & living with EB each day. They are such strong, inspirational, admirable, courageous, brave, enlightening, wise, & full of heart individuals. These strong individuals all have my respect. I've been a longtime fan & supporter of Pearl Jam & Eddie Vedder. I've always admired & respected Eddie Vedder, not only for his music, but the passion, compassion, awareness, & empathy Eddie has for other humans, living souls, the environment, & the world. Eddie is openminded, curious, & is always caring to learn more about the world & putting a spotlight on people, issues, causes, & things that need more awareness. Thank you, Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam for your EB Research Partnership & for this video. I hope the EB Research organization reach their $5 million goal. I send warm gentle hugs, healing, positive thoughts, & better & happier days for all the individuals battling, dealing, & living with EB.

Eddie . . . Besides a serious Pearl Jam follower, as I age along with Eddie this guy shows more and more compassion every year. Besides being such a gifted musician, he and guys like Bono of U2 are so admirable to transcend their own successful lives and direct their attention and use their notoriety for wonderful, humane, and (often) misunderstood social issues. Thanks for your humanitarian efforts Eddie!
@gardensofthegods2 жыл бұрын
I know I'm only 7 years too late but don't be fooled by U2 ... I used to think Bono and The Edge were great also and saw them in concert in the early 80s but don't be fooled by them as they are really quite the privileged once and don't take no for an answer when they want something like a piece of land that is supposed to be like a sanctuary but they want their mansions built on it ... in Malibu and a little bit of research goes a long way of how they spent years fighting so that they could have that chunk of land which was a land reserve but hey they just had to have houses there because they're ... well , they are rich rock stars . I never felt the same towards them again after the digging and research I did

C.E. Mahan Personally I'm beginning to wonder if the U.S, is really "broke". I'm thinking they just say that so they can raise taxes and throw more cash into the "Black Budget". It's kinda like when I was in high school and I would ask my dad for money(like $20-$50) and he would say"sorry, can't I'm broke"meanwhile there's thousands in his bank account for a rainy day. We are the kids and the government officials are the parents.

@cosmovedder135410 жыл бұрын
jnthemyst That is a very good question. Although I am sure he has given an abundance of cash to multiple charities over the years. If he is really currently worth over 80mil, why not kick in the 5mil. Then again maybe he has already given millions to this charity, and they need 5mil more.

My cousin Quinn had EB as seen in my profile picture. She was the youngest person in the U.S to get a bone marrow transplant. She had the worst kind of EB (Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa Hertlitz) and died before her first birthday at eight months old. She formed two types on pneumonia in her lungs at seven to eight months and got put on a ventilator, the doctors then found three more types after she died. Her bandage changes were gruesome and extremely painful as most people with EB know. But after about three hours of changing bandages, she would give you a heartwarming smile that would keep you going thought the day. So when you have a bad day or feel like nobody out there understands or feels your pain remember that there was a baby out there who felt so much more but covered it with a smile!

Please consider helping...........! I wish oh I wish that the US and ALL other countries would invest WAY MORE money in medical research. We must invest in medical research because we could greatly improve peoples lives and to develop more effective treatments that aren't just more or less "band-aids" that do not treat the underlying issues.
@Kman31ca6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if 1/10 of the amount of money was spent on medical research, compared to military research. We could really make some amazing progress in the lives of children and sick ppl around the globe.
@Monifessler-x8h10 ай бұрын
You have to help the poor little bunnies, but as is always the case, the disease doesn't occur as often as, for example, type 2 diabetes, so the pharmaceutical industry does very little or nothing because they can't make any money from it the poor children! I suffered from type 1 diabetes as a child, but I was able to be helped by injecting insulin because type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease! This makes me sad and speechless that so little is done about rare diseases and yet they have money to do research! Luckily, there are also artists like Eddie Vedder and his wife who support the sick children! Respect 👍

Hello Frank, I really understand what you mean (so as opposed to telling you to shut up like the moron above did) however... I'll like to respectfully suggest that I think the intended context of the Dr's statement was more in terms of providing a statistical illustration or metaphor to the seriousness of 'the situation' than insinuating a lack of care for anyone outside of the US. All the best.
