How to fix P0340 engine code: Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Bank 1 or Single Sensor
The Camshaft Position Sensor reports the computer ECM/PCM the location of the Camshaft as it spins.
The ECM/PCM uses the information for the timing of the engine.
If replaced, some vehicles need a Cam sensor Relearn procedure.
When possible, it is best to replace the sensor with an OEM original.
Possible Causes of a P0340 Code:
Bad Camshaft Position Sensor A
Wiring (Open Short)
Blown Fuse
Timing Components (Belt, Chain, or Tensioner)

@HVAC_Mechanic I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler and have this code. I have replaced the camshaft & crankshaft sensors, check the camshaft wires. The jeep will run and sounds good for a 1-2 minutes then runs rough and stalls. Do you know if this year requires the camshaft sensor to relearn or reset? I don't know what else the issue could be.

I have same code in my honda civic 2016. Mileage is 270000km already. It’s a 2.0 ltr engine but i have already changed the sensor but i still get the check emission system code again PO344

I have this code and P1281 code as well replace the cap on the camshaft sensor and still doing it. You think its the timming?

what does it mean if I have P0344 code with it? could that be the timing components then?

yes, like he mentioned. IT can be a number of things. I'd get an OEM camshaft sensor, timing belt(if car has it) & bring to mechanic. Have them check the car for eletrical issues to the wiring & fuses. If you get a good mechanic they should be able to dignoise the car in 1-2 hours depdning on car, it can even take half an hour. Any FUSES can be purchased by mechanic if need be, but I'd at least get those items mentioned before. Worse case, can always return them. DO NOT have mechanic open part prior to figuring out issue as this can void your refund policy. MAKE THAT CLEAR!

It's always best to verify the sensor locations since they can change depending on the engine and year.
