➡️ 1. Laryngopharyngeal Reflux
This occurs when stomach acid moves upwards instead of downwards and ends up accumulating in your throat. The contents could be either acidic or nonacidic. As the fluid sits back there, it causes that nagging sensation that makes you want to constantly clear your throat.
➡️ 2. Post-Nasal Drainage
This is, as the name suggests, literally where drainage from the nose travels down and accumulates in the back of the throat. The cause of this could stem either from allergies or from your sinuses and the treatment really depends on which one it is.
➡️ 3. Food Allergies
That's correct, it is very possible for that nagging feeling to stem from a food that your body is allergic to. Common culprits include dairy products, wheat, gluten, and even eggs in some cases.
➡️ 4. Infection
That feeling of needing to constantly clear your throat is also a side effect that comes from a virus or infection such as the common cold. Again, it causes contents to build up in the throat which results in that uncomfortable feeling.
➡️ 5. Respiratory Conditions
Respiratory diseases and conditions such as asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis can cause the feeling of constant mucus in your throat as well.
So now that we've covered some of the most common causes, let's talk about some of the techniques that you can use to make it go away.
➡️ 1. Take the Right Medications
The most effective way to get rid of mucus and phlegm is to take the medications that are prescribed directly by your doctor. This is especially true for those who have underlying respiratory conditions.
➡️ 2. Drink Plenty of Fluids
You probably grew up hearing your parents tell you to drink plenty of water every time you were sick or had a cold. It may sound cliche, but they were 100% correct because it actually does help improve the functionality of pretty much all the major systems of the body.
➡️ 3. Gargle Warm Salt Water
It's a home remedy that feels nice and can help get rid of mucus in the back of your throat.
➡️ 4. Take a Hot Bath or Shower
In this case, the main benefit of taking a hot bath or shower is to inhale the steam that is produced by the warm water. Steam acts as a natural way to help break up and get rid of mucus and phlegm.
➡️ 5. Keep Your Allergies Under Control
Not only can seasonal allergies cause a runny nose, itchy throat, and watery eyes, they can also cause excessive amounts of mucus and phlegm to build up as well.
➡️ 6. Avoid Irritants
Things like pollution, chemicals, and even certain fragrances can trigger the body to produce excessive amounts of mucus. So if you notice that any of these are making your symptoms worse, just try to avoid it if possible.
➡️ 7. Eat Foods That Are Good for the Respiratory System
Anecdotal studies have shown that certain foods and drinks can be effective in getting rid of mucus and phlegm. Spices such as chili and cayenne pepper contain substances that help clear up the sinuses.

It's due to a virus or bacteria lingering in your system and the bloody doctors haven't got a clue. Three black or aged garlic capsules or tablets plus 2000 mg vit C plus 1 zinc tablet every morning while you are crook, Please note, any more than 2000 mg vit C per day is toxic. Then 2 black or aged garlic capsules or tablets, 1000 mg vit C and 1 zinc thereafter. Do not take garlic capsules or tablets at night either before or after dinner as they may give you wind and indigestion.

Yeah, some. Indoor/outdoor allergies now. Really need to get tested because meds aren't that great and last case if the flu still requried anti-biotics, again. I just feel I could do a better job with my diet. Even cool air causes itching. I just wish there was something that worked better. I keep having to change meds and zrytec isn't working as well as it use to. Xxy..whatever won't stop the itching unfortunately. Some material I know to avoid but the problem seems more internal, instead.

Had post nasal drip for YEARS and chest cough from buildup. Primary care says "chronic bronchitis", which I interpret to mean "I don't know but it is an answer, now go away". Allergist ran tests, not allergic to anything his back full of pin pricks reveal. He did give the best working advice of a nasal salt water flush. Ear/nose/throat doc also stumped....his answer "Non specific allergies"....which I took to mean "I don't know". Benadril will dry me up, but also makes me sleepy. Tried every other OTC allergy med with little to no results. The ONE thing I find helps is a menthol cough drop with eucalyptus, but it's hard to sleep with a cough drop in your mouth, or constantly keep one in your mouth during the day.

Brooooo you legit sound like what I got! Rn I been coughing for 3+ weeks, and it’s got to point where I always cough when I’m Trying to sleep. I’ve tried mucinex, everything even the prescriptions the clinic gave me aren’t working. They said chronic bronchitis too! So I’m going back to get my throat checked for signs of maybe a upper respiratory infection, we probably need antibiotics… at this point I just want a solution. My cough is so bad I get into a cough fit of like 3-4 in a row and end up light headed.
@ShabreHares

Yes Kangen water is AWESOME for coughs! See Below! Bc Worked for me too! Read this info...You do need the minerals that RO takes out of your water. Also leaky gut issues are found that leak out nutrients that we need for hair to grow. One doctor found that when he fixed his leaky gut issue, his hair returned. All bc nutrients were not getting absorbed in his gut. Also distilled is best water we can drink for purity, BUT we have to replace the minerals with drinking liquid minerals for exp that we are not getting if we drink distilled due to these things. Gotta remb that everyone has diff water in their areas. Some have well water, some have city water etc. Everyone will have diff issues depending on the good bad or ugly in their waters or whatever bottled water they use. Example with city water is floride added. Or chlorine added along with the mess of pharmaceuticals they found that gets into our tap water etc vs well water. And we all have differing pesticides getting in our waters depending where we all live. So this is the reason we all get diff results along with factoring in our own differing health challenges. Surprised quite frankly that no one is mentioning these factors that have a major play in all this. Also factor not mentioned is the plates in these machines we can buy. They micro cluster the water molecules to make them smaller to enter our cells quicker & hydrate & detox much faster than reg water. Big win win not mentioned in my opinion! So my take away is: do what works for you. For some it might work well to eliminate inflammation that causes pain in their bodies. For others it might not be fix all due to having to eliminate all the pharmaceuticals in their bodies first. And I bet most of all...we have to experience detox bfr we feel better health wise. So lets arm ourselves with this info bfr we disclaim Alkaline water machines.👍👍👍👍😊 Bc I had a bad cough that wouldn't go away waay dif from any reg cold attacks & waay bfr covid came along. I got some jugs of the water from my friend.....less than 2 wks, it disappeared! ~ No joke! Saved me doctor tests & costly pharma bills that I didn't have money for at the time. So I know it worked something great for me along with Prayer. So get some jugs from someone like I did who has a machine or buy one yourself. Here is another persons story & WISE info: They say Kangen water makes pee ph too high & is bad. : "My pee pH is 6 (I was recently tested) and I’ve been drinking kangen water for over a year. A proper distributor should tell you to not drink the water 1 hour before a meal and 30min after, so the stomach can produce its acid for digestion. You can still drink a lower level of pH since the machine has from 7 to 9.5 pH levels. And the amount of antioxidants it has is very worth it. I haven’t gotten sick not even once since I got it… I believe it is what the pharmaceutic industry fears the most" 😉 So with all the factors, I believe we all have to drink it for ourselves & maybe detox first & feel worse bfr better to see if it is for us. And that's my take. Thanks
