Hi Guys! I just cannot tell you how much we all enjoyed this Salisbury Steak recipe of yours. I grew up trying Salisbury Steak and hated, or didn't much care for, all recipes, whether it was Mother's, my Grandmother's, any school or restaurant's version. I watched you make this version Kevin, and had never seen a recipe using Campbell's French Onion Soup. That intrigued me, as well as you using a small amount of Worchestershire Sauce in the recipe. So, I decided to try your recipe without a fatalist attitude. I am so glad I did. Your recipe is FABULOUS and what I have been thinking all Salisbury Steak recipes should be, and were not. Thank you for giving us this really great recipe, as it is going in the Black Book Of Recipes we have along, with Ralph's Salsa and Chilequiles. The Black Book is only the best of any recipe we have tried. All these recipes of yours and Ralph's are hits. I just wanted you to know. Hugs to you and Ralph. Sara P.S. My Grandparents were actually from Salisbury, Missouri.

Sara - so glad you gave it a try and delighted to hear that you liked this version! Like so many dishes, there are countless variations, but I found that I liked the taste of this Salisbury steak the best, too. We are honored that it made it into you Black Book of Recipes!! Hugs back to you!!

Nice recipe, and I am simmering the steaks in the gravy as I type. The potatoes are boiled as well. As far as washing dishes, I know what you mean and have been considering picking up a vintage Dishmaster faucet. Thanks for the recipe. The Signature range is a beauty... great control panel and back light. I would like to have one to join my Montgomery Ward microwave. It required a dolly when I moved it over from my neighbor's house.

Hi there, I wanted to let you know I made this yesterday nearly exactly as you stated and it was beyond delicious! Only thing is I did differently is add a small splash of milk to the meat mixture. I used my electric skillet which I think is more convenient than a stove top preparation because it's easier to regulate the temperature and clean up is a snap. Thanks so much for sharing this classic recipe.

You're welcome and thanks so much for letting us know! The milk you added probably gave the mixture some additional moisture, which is good. This is a great dish to make in an electric skillet - glad to know you put yours to good use!! Thanks for watching!

I grew up with this, but being Polish we did not call it Salisbury steak. It's one of my favourites that I make to this day. I don't use the soup you used, I saute the onions and then add beef broth and mushroom soup to make the gravy. It makes for great left overs too. Great video guy's!

These really look yummy! Funny, I was thinking just the other night that I wanted something with ground beef but didn't want a burger or a meat loaf. I'll be making these soon in one of my vintage electric skillets! The problem will be deciding which one to use! Kenmore, Westinghouse, Sunbeam, or Farberware (yes, I have 4 lol). Cheers!

Loved it guys! Brings back my childhood memories of comfort food. I was 1 of 5 kids so this was a meal with mashed potatoes that could "stick to the ribs" and keep you full for a long time, on a small budget. I grew up near Worcester MA. There is a town in Ohio named Wooster. The two are pronounced the same. (However in MA, ther last sylable is likely to be said "ta" vs "ter".) On to the sauce; "Woos ta sheer" no shyness there {:-). Have to say, I look forward to enjoying all your videos, but my favorites are done at the cottage! Will we ever get to see more of that retreat? Bye from NH, 👵🏻 🤗

Hello Patricia in beautiful New Hampshire!! I've had friends from New England tell me I talk funny :-) I can see how Worcester would be pronounced like Wooster. No matter how you say it, I love Worcestershire sauce - especially in beef dishes. Glad you like the cottage videos - it's our favorite place to cook and entertain family and friends! Will have to make a cottage tour video one of these days! Thanks!!

Love it, thanks! I just made my third batch of your Chicken Paprikash in my new Ebay find, the larger Sunbeam Skillet. ( it has the dangerous broiler lid) I've started using my 1949 Mixmaster's raw meat disc to grind my ground beef using tri tip, and ribeye. I made burgers on our vintage hooded charcoal brazier I restored from the 1950's with my home ground beef, it was great. I see the lamp to the left of your sink and I have a similar one, but is a BBQ w/ chimney, what is yours?

@cavalcadeoffood 7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Glad you like the chicken paprikash recipe. Glad to hear you are putting that Mixmaster to work and grinding your own beef! I'll bet it tastes terrific. The lamp was a gift from a friend who found it somewhere - it's an old cast iron stove. Thanks!

I always thought Salisbury steak was made with mushrooms. However, I think it was due to my grandma who made hamburgers with cream of mushroom soup which always reminded me of Salisbury later in my life but was different.

LOVE Salisbury Steak! Evokes many memories of childhood. Funny enough- all the Brits I spoke to about his recipe have NO IDEA! lol I was first introduced to these by Mum of course - and later I always used to order them from the cafeteria counter at Woolco, Krresgies, Woolworths, or Tower. Such a classic North American meal! It is actually on my list of videos for my channel. LOL I promise not to steal your ideas, but I do confess - one of the best ones I ever had was first made in a grill pan, then transferred to the skillet. (When I saw you do the marks with the fork, I was like - AHA!) lol Great video guys!

Hi Kevin and Ralph! I just happened across this video from 2017 about Salisbury Steaks. I remember having these in the school cafeteria as a child. My, but now looking back, I remember that my Mother would always put an egg in her ground beef when she made homemade hamburgers for us. Kevin, I notice that you have lost weight since 2017. Did you try to reduce? Do you realize that you have lost weight or not? I enjoyed watching you cook as always. Love from Georgia to you both. :-)
