I made a set but used a double prusik knot instead of the wrap, but it works the same way. I also wrapped the top 6" with paracord, and a 3" section a few inches up from the bottom to quiet them when being carried. Not only are they a solid rest for my rifle, but they also make a very serviceable walking stick.

Built a set for under eight dollars. Love them. Did redo the rope part out of larger circumference material which had fewer wraps around the dowels, resulting in larger knots and it never comes untied. Thanks for a great idea. Like them much better than a high dollar stick I borrowed from a friend.

Been wanting to make some of these. Looking around KZbin and Of Course Mr Cavedweller has the BEST concept. Thanks man. My wife also says thanks cuz she is small and needs a good rest even for a short youth type rifle. I always enjoy your videos and I appreciate this one for its SIMPLE UTILITY.

Forgot to add that I just used a finishing nail driven into the end. Works well. Love that fact that while sitting in a chair deer hunting, I can stick them in the ground in front of me and they stay in place. Perfect.

Sir! These are excellent!! A perfect support for steady shooting & easy to carry from the looks of them. The heavy milsurps I like to shoot are difficult for this old man to hold out in front of me. A perfect solution for a problem I did not realize had an answer for. (outside of using expedient field solutions. ) Thank You!

Man, you saved me a lot of time with trial and error. Great idea. I’m 6’6” so I might stretch them out some but should still work. Merry Christmas🎄

Be careful, I tried making a set for a tall guy like you. And dammit no matter how many times I cut those dowels they were still too short!

I made a similar set using aluminum arrows that I bought from a yard sale. Already had field points on the end. Works perfect.

These work great for airguns!!! I have a Weihrauch .22 which is fairly heavy and these sticks are perfect for longer range shots.

I like them. Going to make some. Thinking about making a set o 3 footers and having add on pieces 1 foot and 2 foot long that screw into the bottom making them a little more versatile.

Thanks for the tutorial! I've been looking for a longer alternative for the 39" stoney point sticks I use to shoot the eastern gray squirrel, and I plan to test these out this weekend. I posted a picture of my finished result on my IG page, and credited your work. Looking forward to more videos.

What diameter dowel do you use? 3/4"? Bigger or smaller?
@cavedweller19595 жыл бұрын
I use 5/8" In rough country they also work well for a walking stick. 3/4" may be the way to go. 1/2" and under is kind of light.
