I found it! PTG Match Headspace Gauges Package of 10 223 cal. $554.00 Midwayusa This complete set of headspace gauges provides a higher level of accuracy than a single go and no go gauge set. Perfect for competition shooters, or for those trying to get the highest level of accuracy as possible out of their rifles. Each gauge is clearly marked in .001" increments for very fine adjustments. Notes Used to find exact headspace length by chambering each of the gauges working up in order of length. May be used for determining brass sizing or the reaming of a chamber. So you can use some tape or spend $554 for a guage set?

savage rifles are so nice to change barrels on. I've done 223,7mm-08,22-250,243&6.5 creedmoor. If you have a torque wrench , barrel nut get torqued to 35ft.lbs. Glad to see someone showing people how to do this, hope this helps. Don't want to see you damage your rifles.

If it was just one rifle, I would wing it. But I've got the two of them and a 3rd in my mind set + I'm thinking of an AR upper--I think your right, I need a wrench.

Great, glad I could help. One ether thing if your going to do more savage rifles or Remington 700 is a barrel vice from Midway. They make barrels for Rem 700 that go on just like the savage, they called (rem /age) barrels. Check them out.

Hello again Cavedweller. I did the same thing with my Savage 110/mod 200 Stevens 270 Win. I purchased a new bolt head for my 270 and to checked the head space I utilized a resized primed 270 case. I loaded it in the chamber minus the plunger and it locked in fine. I added/layered 2 pieces of packing tape and the bolt locked down. I added 7 pieces of tape and the bolt locked down? I bought a Forster 270 Win Go and No go set and the Go locked down but the No go would not lock down, so the head space is fine, maybe the tape method gives a tighter head space?. I remember there was a time you could by headspace gauges sets for Savage competition target rifles different weight bullets and slightly different tolerance for match competition sold by Midwayusa for Savages?

Wouldn't hurt to re-check head space after you've torqued your barrel nut. I usually run into the problem of the action turning with the nut if i don't have it supported (with the action wrench). It doesn't move a lot, but enough to make the bolt close on a no-go

You might wanna look at the Bell and Carlson M40 stock. Since you have a heavy barrel, the stock will accommodate that. They are fiberglass molded and aluminum bedded. All kinds of color options too. You can get one for under 300$. Stay warm!

Brought one home with the 243 barrel, different action bolt spacing. Sweet stock.

@@cavedweller1959 That's too bad. I forgot about the bolt spacing. You might find a use for that stock on another project.

Sir if you decide to find a new home for your .308 barrel send me a massage. The other thought I was watching you .257 Roberts video. You were using round nose solids. I looked for a video on that round in your videos. I did not see it. I am interested in learning more about it. Keep the videos coming. Thank you Sir. Take Care & God Bless Oh on the gamy elk cut off all fat & soak in butter milk for 30 minutes. See if that helps. Does wonders on catfish.

117gr Hornady RN soft points, good bullet for short to mid range due to it's low BC of .243. I've been playing around with a 110gr ELD-X with a BC of.465 and seeing some good groups with it. Hope I can get out to test some more before the deer season starts.

Why did you need to take out and leave out the ejector on 243 barrel? Was it necessary? Or just personal preference?
@cavedweller19595 жыл бұрын
You remove it to set the barrel, so you do not get a false feeling from the spring pressure. I'm leaving it out so I wont have to chase brass.

I'm a relatively newb to navigating KZbin. At any rate I've watched alot of your videos and had some questions for ya. But I wasn't sure how to contact you.... Is there a way to email you any questions? One question I had was your 22Hornet loads. I have a single shot break open I'd like to mess around handloading for.

Sorry, Y-T is my only contact point. My first 2 hornets worked wonders with 11 gr. of Win. 296. The last two, a Ruger and this CZ both worked well with Lil Gun.
