He immediately gets a surprise encounter with a long-lost character favorite

It shows that it's the same Cayde we knew. And I think this is Crow's opportunity to finally take his place as the Hunter Vanguard. By technicality, he IS a hunter, and a Gunslinger, the same as Cayde - And I think part of that is because of his guilt for what went down in Forsaken, and there's no one better to take Cayde's place because of the Dare he put in place.

Its nice to see him back, but i aint coming back. I was getting tired of having to farm max level after evey single big update. And my cool armor getting underleveled got annoying. But the last nail in the coffin was seeing how all of my payed dlcs got vaulted and even the good old story mode was discarded. I enjoyed that content and i paid for it.

I'm pretty sure bringing back Cayde was in the cards before lightfall even dropped. They had to do something. He's my favorite character but it is fan service no doubt.

They killed off the most popular character (although he honestly annoyed me quite a lot) deliberately to get the player base riled up, yet it was obvious their only plan was going to have to come up with some implausible absurd excuse to bring him back to please the player base. If that's not peak cynical hack writing that's insulting the intelligence of its own customers, I don't know what is.

I get what you're saying. I don't think it's lazy writing, and if you think so. I get where you're coming from. It's how they integrate him back into the story plot is what interests me the most. Is it fan service? Yes. Is it integral to the main story? We don't know. I'll keep my opinions until we know for sure. Appreciate the comment tho
