Sort of a walkthrough of installing a CB in my FJ Cruiser. I was doing this on the fly to help other people out so forgive my wacky loss of thoughts and saying um a lot! LOL

Great series of vids!! Install came out great! Really liked the explanation of the 3 wires that the unit has and where to tap into. Great job👍🏼

Ya man you worked hard at it! Hey, how do or did you like that radio? Any issues as of today?

@@rallypoint1 The radio is great. However there absolutley no one on up here in Canada. Lol. Every now and then I may pick up a farmer, or some construction workers. On the rare time or to I have picked up skip from the states. Even when I see an antenna on a vehicle I will have radio on but have not made any contact. I had the most success driving from Wyoming to California and back to Canada.

@@POPPASHANGO Do you still have that radio? I got one in January and replaced it in July. It’s a nice basic radio but it’s limited on functions. Also the RX sensitivity is set high. So in my urban setting I was at 3S level on a regular basis. Couldn’t turn down the RF gain with a knob. Upgraded to a President McKinley and a Sirio Performer 5000. What a combo! Also has SSB for some DX’ing. Anyways, thanks again for your vids!! 73’s 917 SoCal back on the side!

G'day from Australia....I loved all six episodes of the install...In Australia we use UHF 5 watt ...80 channels...I did something similar for head unit mounting in my 2001 Ford Falcon but I used a conventional antenna mount for my 5dB whip antenna...Still get 20-50 kms via the repeater system and up to 10 kms on simplex...I also have 5Watt handhelds with similar range...We love UHF here 477 Mhz or so...Nice FJ too...Cheers Rod.

This is the best video for cb installation. Very detail and informative. Thank you very much. One question does the SWR come with the jump cable?
@POPPASHANGO7 жыл бұрын
T Yik Thank you for compliment. in answer to your question, no some swr devices do not come with the jump cable. I did some running around and could not find one. I sent it back and purchased the one you see in the video in which the cable is included. Be sure to ask if the cable is included before purchasing. Hope that helps!

Long shot that you'll see this since it's an older video, but looking for the product you used for your dash kit.. I absolutely can not find one for mine to do something similar to this... Any help would be appreciated

The kit I used was the Scosche TA2076B 2007 Toyota FJ ISO/Double Din with Pocket Kit. I checked on Amazon and it says it's no longer available. So I went to Crutchfield where I purchased it and saw the Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit. That kit would work for a single unit that fits in a double din slot. ZBut if you are trying to install two units like I did, I don't think it would work because it doesn't have the sides which I modified to hold both units. I did a few searches but it seems like you would have to modify a universal unfortunately.
