One of the reasons I enjoy your videos Fred, there are good stations on the air who will talk to you. Over here it seems that what little activity there is involves profanity, inane noises or just drunken, drug affected persons just rambling on. So nice to hear a friendly environment on air, which makes putting together a station worthwhile! Big thumbs up to the UK CB scene!

Was good to chat to Dave etc that morning...a real achievement. You're next Mr Fred...we will get a chance to catch up soon. 73's from sunny Chislehurst buddy

If I may ask, what type of microphone are you using on the DX-SR8? I use one as a backup rig for my ham station (however, it does find it's way to 11m at times) and the audio is not so good. Looking for any suggestions here. 73's Darrell

@@CB-RADIO-UK Thank you! I purchased the EMS-14 desk mic and wasn't impressed at all. Currently I've rewired an Icom SM-20 and using it. Still lacking in any bass and just flat sounding. I love the fact they advertise the radio as having, "World Class Audio". However, what they don't say is world class what!!! lol

Hi ya Fred do you think it might be possible that CB manufacturing could supply radios which are more compatible with RH driver cars for mobile use like the to tcb 900 which has the mike socket on the other side of the radio and makes it more suitable for Britain 🇬🇧?
@CB-RADIO-UK5 жыл бұрын
Yes thats a good point. Ive never thought of that before.

Is that radio opened up then Fred obviously a normal rig wouldn't go up that high would it? Probably a stupid question I know..

Its been widebanded to transmit on 11 meters. I think it would receive on the band without the mod.

Can't you get 50Hz resolution on that DSR8T ie 27.78125?
@CB-RADIO-UK6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can adjust single digits using the main VFO.
@TonyLing6 жыл бұрын
@@CB-RADIO-UK But the 5th decimal place is not held in memory then? My DR-135DX appears to save it in the programming but it doesn't. You can of course use the clarifier, but if you switch off and on, it is lost. I guess these things just don't have a wide enough address register.
@CB-RADIO-UK6 жыл бұрын
Yes you could be right. When i set up the FM memories i just used the up and down buttons to set the channels. I guess i could have used the VFO to set the 25. Tbh i did not bother (same with my Yaesu 450) as i figured it would not make a lot of difference on FM. I just wish the TX power had better adjustment.
@TonyLing6 жыл бұрын
@@CB-RADIO-UK Indeed, that 50Hz does make much difference for FM. I've been looking for my ideal rig which would handle this, I have a DR-135DX and an SS9900, neither of them actually address the bastard hand that we were dealt in 1981 Amateur gear, even at the top end is poor at providing a decent amount of memory chanels
@CB-RADIO-UK6 жыл бұрын
Each has its weakness. I dont like running HF gear at 100 w on FM as they really are not made for that. The Yaesu 450 D is good value if bought new.
@sculptech-c2e6 жыл бұрын
Hi Fred im thinking of buying the Alinco you have here or the Yaesu ft450d. Which one would you say is the best please??
@CB-RADIO-UK6 жыл бұрын
If buying new the 450 has more features such as the DSP and is the far more modern radio, no real contest. Second hand the Alinco can be £200 cheaper than the 450D which makes it a good option. I would only buy a almost new 450 as early 450D's suffer from a number of issues such as hum and earthing which require work. Finally the Alinco can sound better with the front fire speaker.
@sculptech-c2e6 жыл бұрын
