CB125S Cafe Racer Assembly Timelapse - Brat Style 1975 Honda

Previously we tore down, refinished and reassembled the motor for this little ripper, and now it is time to put the rest of the bike together around this fine tiny single-cylinder motor. This bike has been reimagined as a brat style cafe racer and has quite a few modifications such as the rear frame hoop, custom seat, custom stainless steel exhaust and much, much more. Same. I just bought a 72 125s missing a seat/tank/exhaust that was literally dug out of the ground. I paid $60 for it and this video definitely sealed the deal for a nice street-worthy cafe build. Love the clean LED speedo

The rake on the bike is stock, though the rear shocks are a little taller. I imagine Honda wanted this little bike to feel nimble!

Thanks! A pod filter requires some fussing around with the carburetor jetting, but once it is figured out, it's perfectly fine. I'd still avoid riding in heavy rain though as it's not as good as the factory intake at filtering out water.

Hey I'm restoring a 73 cb125s and my front brake mechanism is completely rusted and cracked, what hydraulic brakes did you use for your bike?

It's a caliper from a Honda Rebel, we welded on a brake mount to the fork. If I were to do it again, I'd probably opt for swapping on the forks from another bike or finding a CB125s front drum brake instead.

@@roodlumreally? I imagined the disc would be worth saving though. Is the issue a lack of stopping power or is it just substantially easier to swap the parts?

I just find the cable operated brake caliper to be very uninspiring

The muffler is from cone engineering; I made the pipe.

What front forks did you use on this? We are doing a 78 CB125S Cafe and would much prefer hydraulic front brakes vs. the stock cable actuated. Thanks in advance.

It uses the stock forks, but with a new mount welded into place on the fork leg and a Honda Rebel caliper mounted. Honestly I probably wouldn’t recommend going this route as it’s pretty tricky.

Could you explain how did you fixed headlight holders? I see, you caught original holders... I have a problem to find small holders, cus my front fork 27mm/ 1.067in diameter.

I fabricated them myself, using some pipe I found that had a similar inside diameter to the fork diameter. The parts that the headlight bolts to are actually cut from the end of the bike's frame and welded/blended onto the pipe.

Is the seat custom made?

It is. I made it out of an old street sign (it still says mph on the underside) and had it upholstered. I think a custom seat is one of the best ways to make a bike stand out.

How did you upgrade your front brake to hydraulic?

On this one we welded a brake caliper mount to the fork leg. In hindsight, it probably wasn't worth the effort and an entire fork swap would probably be a better idea.

What wheels are those and what tire size are you running

I replaced the stock rims with similar sized Borrani aluminum rims and Michelin City Pro tires. Those rims are very expensive but should hold up to a beating.

Even if you only have 15 minutes a day to spare on the bike, getting a small task completed is better than nothing.
