"Bike is slow when I try to accelerate from low speeds in 6th gear" That's what the other gears are for bud.

I think I was pointing out the not ideal gearing of the bike, I've ridden smaller CC bikes that can handle those rpms at the same speed in top gear much better. Not because they make more power, but because they have better gear ratios. really the only let down on this bike is the ratios.

@@davidsfix Have been riding the CB300R daily for months. If you're complaining about the top gear power you're missing the point of the bike. I thought I was bored with mine until I bought a GSX-S750Z ABS new.. made me appreciate the amazing handling and light weight of the CB300R. Its powerband is in city speeds, the top is to give you highway speed.

I have a cb300r and I can tell you that if you are trying to roll on under 5.5k rpm in 6th gear.. it's not going to go well, you need to be higher in the revs and it will reward you for doing so... I actually find that the bike picks up acceleration at around 120kmh and goes until about 136kmh pretty well... so it has a narrow power-band and anything 90kmh - 110kmh should be done in 5th as you can wring it out to do about 125kmh... it wants to be revved and you should oblige it. Edit: I got it because I had actually used one in my MSF course and it was to be my first bike plus it is a VERY handsome bike... I sat on many of the others but no one would let me test-ride so I went with the thing that I actually knew and liked the looks of.. Cb300r.

I was going to buy a Honda CRF300L dual sport as I live on a farm in Thailand. However 95% of my riding is on Tarmac and gravel roads so looked at and purchased the CB300R. It is a great motorbike as it is light, has a tight turning circle, short wheel base so excellent for filtering through stationary traffic. No regrets buying it and would recommend it. I would not buy the BMW or Duke.

I have a cb300R. Watching you ride one was painful for me 😂 You’re supposed to shift higher in the rpm range as peak torque is around 9k rpm. It revs up to 12k rpm fyi. What does your current motorcycle rev up to?

My review in one sentence: This is a cute little 300cc compact pocket rocket that deserves great applause 👏👏👏 for its superb handling, super smooth engine, easy to ride nature and flickability and the extreme fun quotient while still giving the likes of Duke 390 a run for their money 😂

I’ve been wanting one because of how light it is. I have a Kawasaki Z 400 and it gets me up to the gold country just fine. This bike would be great for on the trails and on the road that only has a posted 55 mph. I think it would be a perfect little bike for stealth camping. I think if you revved that little engine a little more and lived in a more populated area, you would appreciate that bike.

I have this bike as my first motorcycle and have been on the motorways (a/k/a Interstate or Highways in Canada and USA) a few times for about 40-50 miles a time here and I don't feel it is a suitable machine for doing more than 15-20 mins at such speeds - you really feel the engine is running near the top of its range at about 70-75 mph (7000-8000 rpm in sixth gear). However it's a great bike for urban city riding here in the UK upto about 40-45mph because it's light at 140kg fully fueled as is a good beginner bike in the twisties on out narrow single lane country roads here in the UK. But for semi-frequent or frequent highway/motorway riding I would want a at least CB500F or CB500X - not only because of the higher power but also the extra weight makes those bikes more stable in crosswinds at higher speeds.

I had this bike for about four years and would like to point out that you need to be in the right gear to use all the power it has before complaining about slow acceleration, learn to use the right gear to keep rpms high. The handling is superb on this bike - if there is a limiting factor for handling, imho, it's me, the rider. While power of the bike is debatable, I'm a bit puzzled about your concerns about how nimble the bike is - you must be, or consider yourself to be, an extremely good rider to vine about the handling of the bike. If anything worth mentioning is that stock tires are overage and have room for improvement (I'm using Michelin Road6). Gearing is also good, I did change gearing to be a bit longer by putting a 15T sprocket (14 is stock) in the front. Overall love the bike, and together with improving some small bits of the bike I'm IGO to improve the most critical component - me, the rider. ;o)

Perhaps this particular bike had square tyres that was affecting the handling? Suppose I'll never know, but my background in regards to handling is on lightweight 4 cylinders 250cc (like MC22 and MC19) which is considered by many to be some of the best handling bikes. I will find another CB300 and refilm some acceleration pulls and re-review this bike's power, from reading other reputable reviews, I seem to be not alone in my opinion. we'll see!

I feel exactly the same about the handling, mirrors, low speed jerk, mirrors, and highway speed. You can push it 120 km/h, but don't feel safe and comfortable. As you mentioned, 15-20 min but not for a long ride. Twenty years ago, I could push a honda Astra 110 cc a max 113 km/h. I completely agree with your review. I wish to change my opinion on this bike as I have it only for two months.

Didn't you thing of a smaller gear in the front, not expensive to do and the bikes gets more lively, that is wat I should try. The original setup shall have to do with emission regulations and makes the bike slover.

I have the bike and actually went with higher sprocket (15t) in front but I’m not shying away keeping high rpms. Sorry but you need to be redlining the bike using all the power it has to start complaining about the power. It’s a nice city bike - lightweight and nimble. The power is adequate to keep up with the traffic on a highway. It really shines on twisty roads.

Hmm ... I'm not saying your opinion is wrong but this is soooo far away from everyone else I've known who has had this bike. I had mine for a while and now it is my younger brother's bike, so maybe I need to revisit it. I can understand wanting more power (its a 286cc street bike) but when just talking about a fun bike to ride I've just never experienced or heard that. The front end comes up easy, the bars and weight make it telepathic in handling and you get all its torgue from 4k to 8k before drop off. I'm sorry its not working for you. I'd say maybe give it another go but really hold on to those gears, its a single cylinder honda so you can push it hard. Ride it like a supermoto. I mean really ring its neck and hold gears. Short shifting just leaves all the fun in the higher rpms. The front does get floaty but like I said, ride it like a sumo. The KTM 390 bikes are similar to this as well. They are larger capicaty but they have a single that doesn't really show its stuff until higher rpms. I want to say it again, ride those gears out, treat it like a dirt bike but on the street.

I get what you mean, I daily a 89 Honda CBR250R (MC19 revs up to 19000rpm) and I'm very familiar with the concept of having to really Rev all the way to redline to go "fast". Before filming this review I had been riding an yamaha scorpio 225, an old design, single cyl 225cc, carburatted, very basic bike. That bike outperforms the CB300 on a straight.. an old, carby, smaller CC bike. Of course this is only in a straight line, at any other aspect the 300 would win, but that just confirms how a well geared bike is important in low HP bikes, I think honda geared the 300 too tall with not enough HP to back it up, I bet if I tried another cb300 with a bigger rear sprocket (maybe 3 or 4 teeth more) the bike would come alive and it would make for a very fun peppy bike!

This guy expects a 600cc performance from a 300cc 😂. Makes absolutely crap points to make this bike look bad. Its one of the best city bikes available in the segment with good handling and agility. The seat is nice enough not the best or the worst. The bmw also does 7 seconds to 100 kph. Comparison with duke 390 dosent both are different bikes and different segment. The miles per gallon is the best in the segment just check it. Thank you for ending the video.

I expect a 300 to outperform a 250 of the same price, I think that's a fair statement! And these days you can buy a 400 that is much more capable for pretty much the same price as a CB300 too, making it a bit of a weird market. If it had better gearbox and final drive ratios, this bike would be a beast! Still reckon the 300 is the best looking out of the competitors tho
