My brother did a big bore kit on his 1979 GS750 and added a Yoshimura pipe and Mikuni 29mm smoothbores. It was a very fast bike.

I would try removing cables from carbs, and run bike by operating the throttle by hand, if the revs are still high, then its not the cables, slides could be getting stuck.

I had that high Rev problem to. I took the air pods off and looked in the carbs I noticed that one wasn't seating properly. One was higher than the other. I found that the cable wasn't seating properly in top of the carb. That cable can pull up and if it doesn't seat back down properly it high revs. When cable meats carb it can't do a hard 90°. Has to route up and curve down to frame. Hope it helps.

Yea slide carbs are funny about that. Old school keihins from back in the day didnt have this issue but the cable was mated to the slide cap and couldn't be removed. These newer slide carbs are so that cables can be changed quickly with a minor draw back, the leak.

I bought Murray carbs for my Yamaha maxim. I could not get them to work right after multiple times of trying. I then realized that the outside cylinder were getting most of fuel, and the inside cylinders were getting to much air, and causing a lean condition. I investigated further and found that the carbs are facing the outside cylinders, and not centered equally between the two, and that's why I couldn't get them right, no matter what I did. I hope this helps someone else that can't get theirs to run right.

Got a set from Murray a month ago. Having the same particular issue with a 1980 cb 650. Gonna try to do the new boot route and use carb spray to diagnose a possible vacuum leak. If I'm being honest, Murray isn't the happiest guy when it came to communication on the phone. From all the forums and videos I've seen, some people either have the best or the worst experience from him. It's a crap shoot :/ Might just say screw it and give it to motorcycle wizard to take a crack at it.

@@zsgarage2021 Had mine looked at from this local guy who strictly works on Japanese 4 cylinders for over 40 years. Once I mentioned "Murray Carbs" he immediately frowned. He said that he dealt with a couple of bikes with the Murray Carb treatment with the same particular issue and claims those carbs and all carbs are not "plug and play". They require rejetting, synching and all of the goodness. Sure it fits, but all bikes are different even if they're the same model engine. (Compression numbers, timing, etc.)

Hello, I had same issue with murrayscarbs on 1982 cb750k, its not throttle cables but jetting. idling jetting was too lean, needle and main jet were too rich. Replace the #35 pilot jet with #47.5 or #50 with 1-1/4 air screw. My final recipe : Pilot jet#50 Main jet: #170 Needle jet: 159-Q0 Nedle clip at position 3 With this recipe my cb750k has a nice throttle, no more brrrbrrr or boowwwoooaah

The guy (murray) should at least send a couple jets one higher, one lower and needle advice for each kit and just take down the "plug and play". I get that he sends them rich as to not melt down anyones engine. I personally would rather get complaints of too rich vs a hole in the piston. But yea, every bike is different and depending on the mileage, one "750" will need a smaller jet than the other.

Totally get where you're coming from. I just believe that if I'm told that a product will work out of the box, then it needs to be that way. I totally get tuning and syncing the carbs. That's one thing, but when the throttle get's stuck, can not endorse a product that can potentially damage the motorcycle, or can get you hurt.

Last month, got a Murrays Carbs kit with the solid mount manifolds for my 1975 CB550 with stock 4-4 pipes. The bike is now a hot rod. The transformation was startling and gratifying. I've probably put 500 miles on the set up and am really happy with it. The only issue is that about once per ride, the bike bogs and won't rev above 5K for about 1-3 minutes. It's like hitting a wall--- sluggish to no throttle response other than deceleration. Don't know if it's an issue with the cables or stuck slide. Last night the sluggish response lasted 15 minutes and I was concerned that the bike wouldn't have the power to climb the mountain roads to my house. Stopped to get groceries for about 5 minutes and the bike was back to being a hot rod. There is no good time to lose power on a motorcycle, and abrupt power loss can be downright dangerous. I think I'll lube the cables and see if that helps....
