So basically we should make cord blood collection a mandatory procedure for healthy babies so we can help everybody.
@rebeccacollier50974 жыл бұрын
I agree. If they really cared we could help so many. I would have loved to donate my baby's cord blood but there was nothing in the area... or they wouldn't even try. All I was offered was to save her cord blood for HER (or possibly us). So, private. I was SO EXCITED to donate to sick babies but they said no.

Your baby needs all its blood and stem cell immediately after birth. Delay clamping till pulsing stops and cord white. 30% of baby's blood is in the cord and needs to get to baby to repair any trauma naturally occuring during birthing. This banking is a scam , give the blood to your baby.
@forevermore51185 жыл бұрын
You sound like someone trying to help big pharma. Are you saying that cord blood stem cells don't help children with life-limiting disease? Sure why not let big pharma make billions from these little bald-headed kids heading into the oncology ward?
@royalreese44294 жыл бұрын
@@forevermore5118 um no wtf. I'm pregnant and if I want my healthy baby I'm gonna take extra steps to make sure my baby is healthy. The umbilical cord belongs to him, which MY body grew for months. I would want to ensure my child's healthy before anyboy elses. I'm definitely going to ask for delayed clamping. They also have a thing called lotus birth where you keep everything intact until it naturally falls off
@Brittanyoneill893 жыл бұрын
I actually did both! I had enough blood to delay the clamping and collect for banking. I might have been lucky, my baby had a long cord and plenty of blood.

Exactly...think about it. If you give the baby the entirety of itself blood then it most likely wouldn't even develop diseases

I know they say no one can touch it. I feel like the 1% will pay whatever to get a tiny amount which is a lot and you would never know. This is great technology but I feel it's only available to those who can afford it. Based on how things are going right now, it will literally become pay to live/be born.

This procedure sounds about as beneficial as buying the insurance on your rental car at the airport . Storing the cord blood for “private use “ for your own family reduces the chances of anyone utilizing the blood to almost zero. If you are going to save it, donate it publicly so it could actually save someone else's child.

Genetic editing is something we have the ability to so. I have a condition where genetically edited stem cells could be a cure to the worst of it, I've also spent years studying it. We could be 5 years away from practical application, or we could be 25 years away, its difficult to know. Bioinformatics still has a long way to go to be reliable enough for genetic editing as treatment for some conditions, but cord blood for self transplant may be an option there. I wanted to go into research into using it for my condition, because eliminating host vs graft disease and rejection is a very appealing idea. The future will have opportunities, but we aren't at a place where its guaranteed people will live long enough to benefit.

The placenta will return this blood to the baby if the doctor’s would not clap it off. No need to store it......just wait five minutes after birth before cutting the cord. It will be returned to the baby. I don’t know what or who is making profit off our children’s blood, but it’s happening.

Uhh, any option besides becoming medical waste and contributing to greenhouse gases seems like a good one to me: Either it is privately stored like in this video, it is donated to medical science research, or it is donated to a public cord blood bank.
@sonyakemp82324 жыл бұрын
@@MsBhappy It's part of the baby's circulation - that just happens to be in the cord when the baby is born. Newborns benefit from waiting until the cord stops pulsating before it is cut (generally 1-2 minutes). It is standard practice at many hospitals in the world to NOT clamp the cord immediately. Studies of babies at 4 months of age showed that the babies who had delayed cord clamping had far better iron stores (amongst other things) compred to those babies who had their blood prevented from returning to their body at birth.

Good information! I have to say I'm with Zoe on this one. This should be an automatic procedure done to help other children. Of course, with the exception of parents who do not want this done. Within HIPPA rights, and such. But, if privately this will only help families with children who already have these medical needs, these donations should be mostly public. If I'm saying that correctly. IDK. Either way, THANK YOU to those willing to seek out this information so that families don't use private banking under false pretenses.
