I'm looking at getting a leftover 2022 soon if its still there (if not it wasn't meant to be, for now, until the 2023s come out). I've been riding for 20 years now and I started on CBR600F4. I've had a 2013 ZX6R and 2019 R6 but the most comfortable sportbike has always been that first Honda. The tank was narrower than any other sportbike and made me feel more connected with the bike. I sat on a R7 next to this at the showroom and that is BRUTAL on my wrists and back (now that im 43). The '22 Ninja 650 felt so upright that it felt like a touring bike not a sportbike. And about the gas, if you think the CBR650R is bad in gas, NEVER get an Indian FTR like I did. I got rid of that bike quick. 2 gallon Premium-only tank capacity so all you got was 85 miles before it was time to fill up. Best of both worlds between sportbike and cruiser by design but what good is it if the ride is done so quick. I could ride it one day and have the possibility of filling it up TWICE in a day just from one cruise around (it needs a strap on Jerry can). But I'm thinking this CBR could take me full circle back to Honda where it started for me. My major hangup is that price. Its just a big jump, enough that if i pull the trigger, my mods will be very limited (I'm almost certain of that seat cap though to fix the style.)

Bulk of the weight is in the exhaust. That is roughly 20-30 Lbs right there.

While waiting to get my bike I found out that in Thailand, Philipines, UK, everywhere but the US this bike is really popular. That's why a lot of the aftermarket support is overseas, It took me a year to find a good deal too on a CBR650R in Socal.

About the exhaust if anyone is curious. You can't heat stain aluminum. You'll just make it black and brittle. You can heat stain titanium the best and you'll get really vivid blues and some purples if you want. A cheaper option tho is steel. You can heat stain steel to be blue as well, but it won't be as blue as the titanium.

So many people ask why I didn’t get a 600 B***h have you sat on a 600? The 650 is so comfortable, I did a 6hr ride and still felt fine, I wouldn’t last half of that on a 600

Yep, my #1 gripe with owning this bike is the lack of aftermarket mods. Even in Australia I have to order things for Philippines etc. and it's not cheap. What is interesting is the fact that they're so expensive in America though. I paid $13,000 AUD ($8,755 USD) for mine brand new about a year and a half ago when the prices were basically at their highest. These days you can buy a basically brand new one for about $9,000 AUD ($6,000 USD). As mentioned by someone else though, we do have to pay to get it de-restricted (roughly $1,000 AUD). Nonetheless it's an awesome bike and I love my '22. Only other thing I don't love, as you mentioned, is the weight. It is just a bit too heavy for what it is. Oh, and the stock tyres aren't fantastic. But as long as you're not planning to be stupid with it they should be okay.

Also, crazy to know how expensive the CBR650R is where you are I paid $11500aud brand new ready to ride in Australia. With that said it’s another $2ish grand for pipes and a tune to get it to full power as they restrict this model in Aus Nice video mate, good bonus having the twisties thrown in there

so u changed exhaust? did you change your engine mapping after? that may help with your MPG gas consumption, on side of riding style ofc (i belive theres 6 gears on it xD)
