CBS! Caretakers of the Star Trek franchise!! You appear to be out of touch with what it is that Star Trek fans want. You could have commissioned the creation of something like the Stage Nine project years ago and we the fans would have paid good money to own it... But you lacked either the foresight, the awareness or the inclination to make it happen. So when members of the creative talent that exists amongst the fan base (from all over the world!) stepped up and pursued the creation of something truly wonderful, rather than congratulate that team, praise them and offer your support, you flexed your corporate muscles, waved your rights of ownership in their faces and shut them down, immediately, unconditionally and absent any attempts at negotiation to meet in the middle. - 3 Years of highly motivated creativity... All gone! The quality of work from this small group of HOBBYISTS was fantastic and you killed it... It's ironic that a corporation that applies so much effort, time, resources and money in the pursuit of creative endeavors should be singularly instrumental in the shutting down of one of the most unique creative projects of its time. You should have been looking into avenues that would have advanced their art, not destroy it! It is my sincerest wish that you will re-evaluate your motives and reconsider your approach to handling this situation. Establish and sustain a dialogue with the team behind the Stage Nine project; green light the project's resurrection and support the team's efforts to realise the project's potential. Please!

CBS stole the story for Star Trek Discovery by an indie developer and threatened legal action if he would do anything. The 'President' of CBS doesn't care about Star Trek, he just authorized Discovery because he saw dollar signs in the possibility of CBS All Access. This doesn't come as a surprise sadly.

CBS is a collection of cash grabbing suits that criminally abuse broken copyright and IP laws to hoard cultural expression indefinitely. They are unethical bastards.

CBS is clearly jealous of the STAR TREK fans. The fans know what they want and CBS has dropped the ball so incredibly badly that it's not funny. STD as a Star Trek show is so incredibly poorly designed and executed it hurts to watch. CBS shutting down Star Trek Axanar was a clue that CBS didn't know or understand the passion the Star Trek fans have for true Star Trek and the vision that Gene Roddenberry left for us.

they don´t understand star trek message too they want to destroy the legacy by replacing for this garbage full of action and violence like the fast and the furious movies they disguise as star trek and Discovery by the producer of Xena and Hercules

I'm a lifelong serious fan of Star Trek, ever since the original series when I watched it as a kid, but I am now done with CBS/Paramount Trek. I am done with them exactly because they have treated other hardcore fans like crap. They have destroyed so much fan works of art. I will never watch any of their Trek again. I have no faith in CBS or Paramount. They have no idea what Roddenberry's vision is and they don't care.

Totally agree with everything in the video.... *except* "watching Discovery to support the franchise." Sorry, but there's NO excuse to continue watching Discovery. It is NOT Star Trek. 'Game of Throne is Space', perhaps... but NOT Star Trek. Giving them $$ each month only 'supports' their horrible decision making. Somewhere, there's a Richter scale going berserk as Gene Roddenberry spins in his grave. :( Don't give GreedyBS... errr, I mean CBS... one more penny! IMHO

There are millions of true dedicated star trek fans out there. Here is an idea that I have, Since the assholes over at CBS hates star trek any way. Why can't we do this, "All of the startrek fans donate like $20 each to try to save the true star trek shows and movies and since there are millions of fans we take and pool that money and try to buy the trade mark rights from CBS and that way the fans could run things the way it was meant to be run. "The right way" With love the for the show. And that way, we could add the creative people from stage 9 to help run it as well and they could continue with development of there project.

To those saying it was CBS, they usually don't care about fan driven stuff until one of their licensees complains. In this case UBISOFT, who Im sure was worried about sales of the Bridge Commander game, as the guys from Stage9 were doing a superior job building the federation fleet.

You watch STD not because you enjoy it but because you"want to support the franchise" ????? No, no, no, my friend, that is not how the world works. CBS & Disney live in the "search for new audiences because we've got our (property's) fans in our pockets" universe . That's you btw. Some of the Star Wars fandom decided to challenge that by the only means they had , boycott. Thr result was an 80-100 million loss for Solo, deemed "the first Star Wars flop" . Far fewer Star Trek fans do the same openly, but the vast changes between S1 and S2 of STD towards TOS (and even a little towards the Orville in terms of humor) , show that despite not releasing any $$$ numbers, not all is well in the land of CBS (and I presume Disney) . It will take a more boycotting to see the changes that we want, and not pretence at "watching to support the franchise" . As a Jedi master once said, "it takes strength to resist the Dark Side" . And what CBS has done, from JJ Trek to STD is the lowering of the IQ required to watch Star Trek . Trek is no longer educational . It's a sci-fi version of a reality show . Welcome to the Dark Side .

I went to my local maket today to buy a steak. I found the steaks with expiration dates going back 30 - 40 years ! I asked the manager about them and he said they were good, in fact great! So I told him they were great 30 years ago but not now. He said we wash the steaks in beach and dry them, then repackage them to make them look appeasing. I thought, just like Discovery, just like MaCGyver, just like S.W.A.T. just like Twilight zone, just like Hawaii 5-0, and now just like. Magnum P.I. The name looks good but they are all rotten inside.

Well, actually, this is the right attitude. Fans are not obligated to like whatever they get from studio. Fans are also customers and customers have the right to tell what they want.

I don't support CBS because there's no room for polyanish bull with them, they need to be destroyed, they hate star trek original intent and ideals, they need to be stopped before they ruin star trek! They need to be sued for infringing on fans, because fans have the right to be a fan of something. CBS doesn't own the rights to fan support, non-profit fan support is owned by the fans, not CBS!

and they dont want to put DS9 or Voyager on Blu-ray because it won't be profitable--and I would pay to buy them day they are released-- very sad when it all becomes about money when Gene Rodenberry started star trek with such focus on values. I agree about discovery its not that good. I watch it and like it, but nothing like the old treks

You can thank Ubisoft as well as CBS.... more then likely Ubisoft did not want Stage 9 competing with their TNG DLC of Bridge Crew... and what sucks is Stage 9 was started way before anyone had an inkling at Ubisoft to do anything like this, so it sucks major how they can walk into the picture so late, and have CBS throw their legal crap at the devs at Stage 9....
@Lukas-Trnka
@Lukas-Trnka 6 жыл бұрын
I would like to note, that Stage 9 was something quite different from ST:Bridge Crew. There were some similarities, but also many differences. It is not entirely certain that Bridge Crew was the reason for forced canceling Stage 9. But in any case it sucks. And it is also not the last time CBS/Paramount is striking againts fans. It is certain that there will be other fan projects made out of passion and with a great level of excelence. And it is very likely that CBS will strike again.

Any Lawyer could tell you this was gonna happen. Go check out Leonard French's video on it, this was totally indefensible legally. I am against CBS's BS rules for actual transformative works, but they were totally in the right here.

I would direct you to the channel or Leonard French, a copyright attorney. He discussed this and said, as unfortunate as this is, it’s not fair use and within CBS’s right to shut down.

I am reminded of JK Rawlins. there was a FAN made site of Fantastic beasts that she liked and commented on a few times. then she was coming out with her own book. so they closed them down. Maybe CBS saw the interest($$$$$$) in the VR of the enterprise, and will be coming out with there own VR versions of going on the main ships of the different series, NCC-1701, DSN, Voyager, Delta Flyer, etc.
