It's so true! It can be argued that one of the strongest reasons for ending the Vietnam war was that it was the first televised war in history. The horrific images shown to the public were enough to convince most Americans that it was a war without cause and should come to an end.
@cynicalbrit16 жыл бұрын
It's not a case of being spiteful about what she's reporting, it's about the fact that what she wants to report, ie. what's really going on, is being passed over by Cable News in favor of things that don't matter. It's a disgrace, and she's right to be angry about it.

What she's expressing is a CONSCIENCE.... and she speaks with utter HUMILITY. She's done more than any single American TV journalist to tell the truth (she and Michael Ware at CNN) about every aspect of this illegal invasion & occupation... yet she STILL feels like she's let down the soldiers she's covered day in- day out.. because fight as she could, MOST of her reporting never got on the air. You can't pin that on her. VIDEOFREEPRESS, I admire all you do, but THIS IS WRONG how you described LL

@shlarl When I say that showing brutally murdered people in domestic disputes serves no purpose, I don't mean to say recording war is suppose to fill an agenda. News networks are simply ommitting death in their footage. If you're recording something as a report of what's happening, how can you edit out or omit things based on what you think is acceptable and expect it to accurately represent the situation? People just don't understand the nature of war unless they see it. Film all, or film none.

This argument has always been ridiculous. There are many reasons who I am not in the military, a big one being that this country has a habit of starting wars like the two we are in. We are all paying for this ridiculous waste, not in the same ways but paying just the same. I don't want anyone to be over there but don't join the damned army if you don't want to be used like this. What the hell did you expect our government to do if not throw you away in a pointless war? It's what they do.

I know how the military thinks and works. I was enlisted in the Air Force when september 11th happened. My brother was an officer from 2000-2004. I have one commissioned brother in law in the military and two enlisted brother in laws. From what I know when I served, from what I learn by talking to them who are currently serving, few think this war is worth the time away from family and the risk of loss of life. No, its not hard to find soldiers who are against this war.

@h2olacky How should they not be reported in the same way? Both need to be reported in a balanced and critical manner - proper to the subject. In no way should this mean condoning a honor killing - but at the same time I don't need a reporter lovingly drinking every word from a presidential speech.

I am an American. The approval rate of the current president is somewhere like 30%. Only 51% voted for him in the last election, leaving half of the country against the war and the people controlling the country, that percentage continues to rise. I live in New York City and surround myself with highly educated people who keep themselves very aware of International current events. No country is filled with 100% of the people seeing eye-to-eye and agreeing on what their leaders should do.

My Great grandfather served in the army in WWI, my grandfather in WWII, my father served in the army also. I served in the Air Force from 1998-2002. My brother served in the AF from 2000-2004. I currently have 3 brother in laws serving, 2 in the army, 1 in the marines. I know the difference between DC and the military. Most military, by a larg margin are against this war, but they fight anyway. They have little choice. If one has a problem with this war, don't the military, hate the politicians.

I am lucky to be living in Canada. We pretty much get an unbiased view of events that happen around the world. It tends to be less sensationalistic and doesn't try to sway the audience to think about the events one way or another. Today though with the internet and such, we are able to get our newss from many different sources around the world which we should do more of. If only to get a new fresh perspective.

@Copiophonica I'm not sure I completely agree with your last statement though; I do agree that no one deserves to have to experience war first hand, but if no one knows the experience of war then it would be hard to understand it.
