Walter, and worse, that's all the public in general seems to want. The song, "Greenback Dollar" had a line [I don't give a damn about a greenback dollar....] and the Kingston Trio had to strum over the word "damn" because it was too profane. Now they sing about shooting cops and having sex with your mother and that is acceptable. Certainly not the world I knew as a kid.

There's exactly as much tv today, without "filth and profanity" as there was back then. What's been ADDED, is a lot of tv that doesn't try ridiculously hard to pretend like sex doesn't exist. People who believe cowboys don't swear are probably too dumb for good tv.

39 weeks of new shows with 13 weeks of reruns, summer replacements, and pilot shows. The end of summer brought us new shows, as well as all the new car models each year.

Jim Arness was the most handsome, masculine man who ever appeared onscreen! I LOVED this video! Thanks so much for sharing! xoxo from Texas (where we don't have any men like Matt Dillon)

Arness must have been funnier in real life than he was on screen. Didn't know he sent the baddies packing on the next plane. The Wright Bros must have been just around the corner.

Hollywood sure has fallen a long way

Hollywood has fallen, crashed, and is only in its first faze of burning! Actors and Actresses of today have fallen from Grace and seriously disgust me!! There are a few with integrity, but Hollywood quickly dispose of the good ones once they show any signs of integrity, honesty, or any kindness and goodness. Such a shame! They really think they can control us by what they put out. My husband and I refuse to go to movies!

Call me crazy but it seems like the words "Gunsmoke" or "Westerns" could have been included in the title of this video. James Arness was soooo cool. I still watch Gunsmoke re-runs sometimes.

When America was great and we had very little crime. We had 100 million people and it was safe almost everywhere. We used to go to Tijuana on Saturday and buy leather goods. Never heard of any crime there. Now it’s the most dangerous place in the world. We lived We lived in Bellflower outside of Los Angelos in the 1950’s. I never met any adults that didn’t work back then.
