Only the Republican Party is using *the power of the state* to enforce its views on its citizens, including companies, and directly threaten our democratic processes. Only the Republican Party is overtly (and likely more quietly too) threatening legal revenge if companies and corporations do not financially support them. “Pony up or pay dearly later.” Only the Republican Party is characterizing its political opponents as child molesters (“groomers”) and Satan worshipers. Florida: Censor textbooks to make sure that they do not say anything that goes against the Party’s political dogma. Texas: Raise your child in a way that doesn’t conform with our religious beliefs about gender and sexuality and we will investigate you for child abuse, prosecute you and their doctor and remove your child from your custody. Florida: Be a company that opposes legislation favored and promoted by the governor, and we will punitively take away a half-century old tax contract. Texas*: Need an abortion or receive RU-486 in the mail? We the state empower each citizen who choses to to sue you, your doctor and anyone else who assists in any way you for $10,000 each, essentially criminalizing an act that was legal at the time of this nation’s founding and continued to be for almost 100 years. Trump: Fail to obey his orders and pleas to overturn the Electoral College and I will send a mob to imperil your life and the life of your family and disrupt the democratic process. *and a dozen other Republican-run states waiting upon a stacked Supreme Court to overturn 50 years of established precedent.
