It actually breaks my heart that we will never see the original production with the original cast unless you were lucky enough to catch it live while they were still touring. The only video that exists is a really bad quality bootleg version, which is better than nothing but I just wish we had a legitimately filmed version just to archive. We will never get that unless they do a reunion or something.

The most telling thing about the audience is that they don't laugh when the story follows the mainstream Christian beliefs, but they laugh out loud when something specifically Mormon comes up.
@brsbro879
@brsbro879 9 жыл бұрын
Well all the punchlines are about Mormon. Also a lot of the lines that hit all religions are laughed at. For example "oh no that was just a metaphor, those stories aren't real." Also "I believe that the lord god created the universe, and I believe that Jesus died for my sin, and I believe that ancient Jews built boats and sailed to america." The punchline is the boat building, not the Jesus/creationism.

Well, people are more used to Christianity than Mormonism, so the Mormon parts catch them off guard.

Can’t believe it. It’s Olaf/ Bailey, Bailey, Bailey/ Boss Dog. Such a great voice that Josh Gad has. I don’t know anything about this play yet, but it’s interesting that someone who voiced 2 popular characters was in it.

+Anthony Sacco what about Robert? She said Lifetime achievement awards. Not "book of mormon" awards. Im sure Robert has his accomplishments. But Matt and Trey have literally helped change the face of pop culture in hugely significant ways WAY before Book of mormon became a thing. They have earned lifetime achievement awards while Robert has not. Not yet anyway.
@zacharybeahan5012
@zacharybeahan5012 7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Sacco They wrote it alongside Robert though, plus Trey wrote most of the songs alongside Matt. This was technically their project, but Robert being a fan of theirs and them of him, they worked together on it. Not just that, but Trey and Matt have done a lot more in the way of movies and of course TV shows, now this. They are amazing, more so Trey because let's be honest he does most of the work.

@@SuperSethstone Robert Lopez has had a pretty successful career though, and is still pretty young. He's won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award, more than once. I would say that's pretty impressive. Probably a little early for lifetime achievements when all 3 have plenty of future opportunities in front of them though.

When it got to Grand Rapids, Michigan. LOTS of people walked out. As my daughter used to say, this is a ‘churchith’ town. I have loved Matt and Trey since 1997, when I was 37 and I’m female so I wasn’t in their target audience. I came in second place in the Chef’s Salty Balls contest. Bigger, Longer and Uncut was genius.
