Mayo should never have been hired in the first place. He's not ready to be an NFL coach. It was amateur hour all year long. I'm surprised he didn't get another year, but his firing was inevitable because he just doesn't have what it takes to command a team and get the best out of his players. Give Kraft credit for admitting his error and charting a new course.

Kraft doesn’t just watch the games on Sunday like the rest of us. He knows what’s going on with this team every day. A full season is enough to know if they have faith in the head coach or not. Kraft and the organization are well aware of the talent level of the roster, they are still able to see if the coaches are doing the right things every day
@waynejohanson1083Күн бұрын
Should not be fired after only 1 season. You got to give a coach more time then that. Plus I doubt any coach could win with this team. Remember folks Mayo is not throwing the ball, catching it, running with it, Blocking or tackling. He had very little to work with.

Feel sorry for the man, and person, but whoa was he underprepared and unqualified for the job that was gift wrapped to him. Great leaders of men don't shy away from learning before doing and doing before teaching. He has been taking short cuts since he left the NFL as a player just expecting that his personality would make up for the incompetence and on the big stage under the bright lights it came back to bite him. He may be a good coach in another 5-7 years of real coordinator, playcalling, ops and management experience but what a sham to expect that others would just sign up to do that while he bounced from meeting to meeting and handshake to handshake thinking he could just stand on others' shoulders.

Wow. Brady & Belichick really gave Patriots fans unrealistic expectations. Jerod's first year wasn't great. But it was his FIRST YEAR. Chris & many fans are so upset about how Jerod speaks to the media but don't want to be honest about the bad roster. Same team that had the exact same record last year. The team has been awful for the past few years. So it's going to take time & patience to reverse that. Patriots fans look entitled & irrational like Lakers fans.

The way a coach speaks to the media along with controlling what the players say IS a part of the job, and a very important one. But to me the biggest issue was the mistakes he made on the field. Making mistakes when you're new is fine, but he kept making the same mistakes over and over, like making terrible decisions on when and when not to go for it on 4th down, horrible end of half/game clock management and on and on. That's why he had to go.
