The comparison to Ben Johnson was solely the issue of him not having prior HC experience. They certainly aren't stupid enough to lump him with Mayo in any other category of coaching experience.

Mayo knew 5 years ago he wanted to be a NFL Head Coach. He knew 2-3 years ago he was the next Patriots Head Coach. During this time "last 5 years" he didn't assemble his own possible staff & coaches. He didn't do anything in the last 5 years to prepare for his Head Coaching Career. He has no clue about being a Head Coach. So unprepared.

That's because they moved up the timeline bozo. You can't hire coaches prior to having a job and he didn't even get to pick his coaches. How is he supposed to assemble a team when he thinks he is not even becoming coach for three more years? You're 100% wrong.

Can we please stop the poor Mayo wasn’t given a fair shot. He walks with a ton of money for doing a horrible job. He followed the optum management training to the letter. Kiss butt get promoted beyond what you deserve. Take no accountability and blame everyone, always have an out. Nonone was happier than Mayo on getting canned. He didn’t want to be there and has earned more in one year than he could have in the next 15. I’m also guessing he really didn’t do a whole lot when under belichick. Steven ran everything with his dad. Mayo was just one of those people in the area to take credit when things went well and distance themselves when things don’t. Again another optum training point.

It feels awkward that Felger is the voice of reason. What Felger is saying about Wolf is why Kraft sounds like he is giving two answers regarding Wolf (I expect him to be here next year, but...). If these guys have to be here and they know they are getting run, why bother? They have to think there is a chance they can save their job and there might be. Kraft is not technically lying. The new coach will be making that decision. And the new coach might want to keep them (probably not, but you never know).

None of those teams had that. Drake has proven he’s probably the best Rookie QB in the draft because he did so many amazing things with no line and no weapons. AVP did his job - He developed Drake Maye and Joe Milton to competent, starting caliber players, but is not a good play caller. Wolf did his job - He drafted the next QB, retained the core building blocks, trimmed the fat, and revamped offense (on paper). Mayo did not - He lost the locker room, the defense regressed, passed the blame all season long, and we saw no improvement. Covington did not - Defense overall regressed massively If we saw chemistry on offense especially with the young guys, good fundamentals on defense, and consistent messaging from the leadership - we would all be more than happy to see Mayo return.

Do you think their early questions around Jerod as longer term solution, and the thought that they may be looking for a new HC at end of the year, was a factor that tipped the scale toward starting Drake Maye mid season? I’m not saying they shouldn’t have started him all along (he won the job in pre-season)… I’m saying that the initial reason for not starting him at the start of the year was rumored to be that the o-line was too bad and would put Drake in harms way. Nothing had changed in that department when he finally got put in… so maybe they did it in part to entice potential future head coaches in case they were in the market for one. Which they now are, and they have Ben Johnson’s (etc) attention…
@Mark-wo9yt
@Mark-wo9yt 18 сағат бұрын
The bad OL is just an excuse. Why would anyone think this line CONSISTING of a bunch of late round picks and UFAs would miraculously jell at mid-season and protect Maye like he was the President. Mayo SAID he 'sees color in everything'. Jacoby Brisket has been around forever and never started. I think Mayo 'saw color' and gave Jacoby his shot at starting over the white rookie DESPITE Maye outplaying Brisket by light years. Terrible idea since it tells the rest of the team "I don't care if we win or lose because I see color in everything" ...players KNEW Mayo the clown wasn't playing his best QB, he was giving his boy Brisket a chance. When you're drafted in the top 5, you ARE NFL-ready. Yes, rookie QBs will have some growing pains, might as well get thru them as soon as possible.

Johnson has proven he can consistently put together a good offensive scheme and run a professional offense that can compete with anyone. @ McVay was taking over a team with a QB people were ready to label a bust because of how bad Jeff Fisher was. He had to come in and rebuild Goff’s confidence. There was also absolutely 0 indication that McVay could lead a franchise. Using that argument against rookie head coaches is ridiculous because no one knew any coach could do that until they did or didn’t.

Utimately these players are losing the drive for this organization. You need fresh blood in there. Someone with character, motivation, and command. Your work or due diligence in a search really isn't a search or work at all. It's just in familiarity, when it has been time for a change for awhile. This is going back to the well over and over.

Right. He was so successful in Miami he was fired for cause. Started 1-7 in year 3 and was going to get canned at mid-season but Ross was talked out of it. Miami beat a few bottom-feeders and Flores was fired anyway. How'd Flores take it? Angry black man ran to the msm mob claiming Ross paid him to lose games AND was a racist. Two teams that interviewed him - weeks after being fired - didn't hire him as HC he said were racist. Interview this guy -and don't hire him - and you're a racist. HIRE him and good luck getting rid of him no matter how badly he fails. AND he fought incessantly with Ross and Greer in Miami. The guys a cancer

Dumb comment, nice job. Mayo wasn't qualified to be DC, never mind HC. Mayo was incapable of having this team prepared after the bye - TWO WEEKS, never mind ONE. That is poor coaching, a guy who has NO IDEA what he's doing. Worse, DEI Mayo told everyone - including his TEAM - he was willing to play Brisket over Maye DESPITE admitting Maye had beaten Brisket out in camp - which to anyone watching was obvious. Bring in Vrabel - demote pinhead Wolf and Groh then get rid of them. Have Vrabel bring in new coordinators and a GM to run the draft.
