Beautiful beautiful lecture , To answer your question, I belive the political parties should be idealistic and should hold onto their original ideas and principals. So that the people are aware to whom their vote should go. Because when various parties abandon their original ideas for example when the Janta Dal alliance was formed various parties with different ideologies came together only with the aim to remove indira. I belive in that case the public does not benifits at all and it creates a very unstable political scenario as that party does not lasts long. ( As we saw in the case of 1977,79 and even after 1989) But these ideologies should not be extreme

Sir in my opinion both are important , but being pragmatic will be more beneficial for the country as taking action on current realties is more fruitful for the nation. Besides our main concern is the betterment of society or how we can improve the current situation of the nation/world. Here being NOT flexible and being rigid to one's ideologies would only result in violence .The atmosphere of a nation is always changing , so should our ways of working , sticking to one's ideologies only work at some point of particular situation, afterwards the situation changes and the world/nation moves on .To be dedicated and working for the nation's betterment should be our priority i.e working on what the nation truly needs.

As a party should have an ideology in the beginning to establish it's main position and consolidating its power ,it is important to firm about the strategies of not forgetting that for what purpose has the party been formed ,,but at the same time a party should be pragmatic as the parties should be realistic to plan about the actual things of what could be done and living in a realistic world as the ideology alone won't benefit as a whole.
