The rich and powerful are coming for us all. Its just a matter of time. If your mortgage payment is fixed, your insurance will go sky high or your taxes or both. In Florida, i read it already is and many insurers have fled the state. Big companies are gouging us, its not inflation. They learned through the pandemic, if you want something..you will buy it regardless. So basics are just skyrocketing. Apartments, condos, housing is being bought up by investment companies that KNOW you pay or walk the streets. People need to fight back, they are after every dime.

All about greed!!! Typically in affordable housing situations, there is a recert date for each tenant that does not run concurrent with their lease. If their income has increased or decreased, based on the AMI, their rent could increase or decrease, the rent is prorated in accordance with their lease date. It's very shady if they were notified of a rent increase effective 7/1, and then once the media starts inquiring, all of a sudden " Oh never mind, the rent will remain the same."...Spare me..

And if it goes up $100 a month and you're bringing in 2000 and that's going to devastate you then you need to change your lifestyle. Landlords are notorious for not addressing fixes or property concerns at regular apartments let alone at affordable housing complexes. Most of them will do the bare minimum for these two categories and pocket the rest after the rent increases. If 3-4 people in a house are living on $3,000k a month y’all aren’t doing that great either. God forbid something happens to you that’s out of your control like what’s happening to these renters and makes your current situation untenable

That is very rare that anyone would help seniors and others who are struggling. He's the example of the hero seniors and others struggling financially (and health wise.) need. Heck, everyone needs someone like Mr. Magee. He even took the time, that so many politicians and other advocates wouldn't do, to read and study contracts. We need more people in government like him.

$138 a month is more than enough for groceries for a single senior citizen. Where is that money supposed to come from if this is “affordable housing“? Many of the people I know that are on Social Security alone, are only getting 1200 or $1500 a month. Without rent subsidy, they can’t afford to live by themselves.

Hey Antonio, you realize, right? - that those "immigrants" are only getting temporary housing assistance. By the way, which political party have you voted for over the last 44 years, assuming you started voting when you were 18?

Why even have a lease at that point, if someone can just raise your rent, however much and however, often they want, even if you have signed a contract already?! They can raise it at their discretion, but only when they renew the lease. If you’ve signed a contract for specific amount of money for specific amount of time, that is a duly executed contract, and maybe you didn’t quote the entire clause, but a contract is a contract, and just because they want to raise the rate doesn’t mean they’re legally allowed to raise the rate no matter what clause they put in their contract.
